Bolt Thrower - Through the Eye of Terror

I can't believe this came out in fucking '89, just unreal.

Sturgill Simpson - A Good Look

Becoming one of these staple albums for me. A highly individual, wild, addictive album.

Lethal - Fire in Your Skin

This really does feel like a permutation of old Queensrÿche.

Adagio - Sanctus Ignis

Their first 2 albums are decent Symphony X homage. Nothing else afterwards did anything for me.

Agreed. This remains one of my favorite Bolt Thrower songs of all time.

Summoning - Minas Morgul Demo

This alternative demo where Minas Morgul is a dungeon synth album sounds good. If only the mp3 I have was ripped better and didn't had too many audio mistakes...

Monstrosity - Fatal Millenium

Their foray into a more technical style definitely paid off here, topped off with Corpsegrinder's savage vocals.

I'm crossing my fingers that the anti-vaxxing Karens don't ruin Maryland Deathfest for everyone next year, because this lineup is killer!

The last album of theirs that I enjoyed.

Pungent Stench - Sick Bizarre Defaced Creation

Old school death metal with strong punk and rock n' roll vibes, not to mention some funky bass playing. An aboslute banger!

The whole album seems like it easily could've come out 7 or 8 years later without a blink, nuts.

ZZ Top - Legs

This album really is a very irresistibly fun piece of music.

Temple Balls - Pyromide.

80's LA rock-inspired hard 'n' heavy with elements of European melodic metal like Eclipse and Pretty Maids. Pretty fun stuff all around.

Unanimated - Life Demise

Pump all the 90s meloblack directly into my veins.

Amon Amarth - Across The Rainbow Bridge.

I think in general this record needs more oomph. Too much mid tempo, needs a bit more aggression. Granted the next cut does just that but should be more.

Moonsorrow - Kuin Ikuinen

I need to dig more into this band. Killer song I bought off iTunes long ago.

Bruce Dickinson - Man of Sorrows

No fucking memories, but I must've listened to Accident of Birth quite much, because every song sounds familiar. And the songs are all fucking good too.

Angel Dust - Mr. Inferno

Started with a choppy riff ala early Running Wild, but then turned into a wild thrasher with shrieky vocals. I dig it.

Metal Church - Hanging in the Balance

A lot of these songs just seem randomly thrown in there. But this album has always had a magnetic presence and a shitload of charisma and power. Howe was amazing on this.

Metal Church - XI

Not half bad. Not really doing anything too unique anymore but it's solid enough, and feels pretty energized. Unfortunately Kurt Vanderhoof has a lot of really dumb shit to say about younger people in the last few years. But the music is pretty good.

Angel Dust - Stranger

I should have tried this album way sooner - it's just got everything you'd expect out of 80s power/thrash: attitude, pounding riffs and vocals that resemble a maniacal banshee. Very fun stuff.

Realm - Endless War

I liked this initially but also have been trying to make sense of it on subsequent listens. I think this is an ambitious piece of work that is kind of overflowing with ideas. They do fast and thrashy but also more epic mellow moments, and sometimes it feels like it's two separate bands. But it is starting to make more sense. This is kind of its own thing in the middle of power and thrash. Definitely an individual piece of music.

Amon Amarth - The Dragon's Flight Across The Waves

Atheist - And The Psychic Saw

Man this song rips. Jazzy and technical as fuck, while still being aggressive and ballsy. The whole album is an absolute classic!

My Dying Bride - Black Voyage

Some gloomy doom metal for my Tuesday evening. The riff at around 2:30 is one of the greatest doom riffs ever.

Closer of a great reformation album by Anthrax. Strong cut but could use a bit more ass.

Onslaught - Let There Be Death

If these guys were from Germany they'd fit right in with the Teutonic Trio. This is some intense, ripping thrash, and these riffs absolutely fuck!

Metal Church - Blessing in Disguise

Such a fucking classy album. One of the first CDs I bought as a kid, and they way they combine atmospheric/acoustic balladry and bass highlights with stomping power/thrash always impressed me. The next two albums never impressed me as much as the first 3, but Howe's vocals still kept them interesting. Sad to see the singer of a regular staple of my childhood die, RIP Mike.

Metal Church - Revolution Underway

An absolutely fantastic song on a rather ok album. The chorus is insanely catchy and Mike sounds so powerful. Pretty sure this has become my favorite MC song. God are we ever gonna miss his one of a kind voice.

Metal Church - Flee From Reality

When people talk of Mike Howe and Metal Church, they usually have 'Blessing in Disguise' in mind. But the follow up, 'The Human Factor' was a pretty rocking album too. This track in particular is one of the more hardest hitting on the entire album.

Trist - Zrcadlení melancholie

I love me some dsbm once in a while. It's rawness is beautiful and the vocals are genuinely unsettling.

Tad Morose - Where the Sun Never Shines

Had a download of this album for the last 13 years or so and just now got a real copy. Sounds fucking amazing. Clear, authoritative metal masterpiece.

Metal Church - Damned if You Do

Title track is actually pretty fucking cool, gotta say.

Wintersun - Sons Of Winter And Stars

Turns out open-back cans with a wide soundstage, a detail-focused EQ and FLAC quality turns this borderline unlistenable overproduced 8 million track mess into something... that at least is interesting to listen to. I can at least see what he's going for with that guitar tone, this is probably the widest soundstage I've heard in a metal album. It's still not exactly great music but it is incredibly satisfying to pay attention.

Abigail - Sweet Baby Metal Sluts

Something about this Venomey dirty blackish speed metal fronted a Japanese guy with a heavy accent and lack of command of English that I find wonderful. Sweet Baby Metal Sluts indeed. Next up is my favorite combo, Whiskey, Coke, and Bitch. :metal:

AFI - Veronica Sawyer Smokes

Ex-punk band does a Smiths-inspired jangle pop song... and does a pretty good job, all things considered. Extremely catchy.
