From their Facebook:

Quote:
Poisonous Dark Metallers CRADLE OF FILTH reveal the title of their forthcoming 13th studio album as being "Existence Is Futile". Their monumental new opus -the 13th (unlucky for all) studio album of the band to date - was once again recorded at Grindstone Studios with producer Scott Atkins and is embellished with artwork from Arthur Berzinsh, who is guilty of accomplishing the last two album artworks in the Cradle back canon. Further nihilistic details from the crypt will soon see the light of day.⁣

"Existence is Futile" which features a new as-yet-named keyboardist/backing singer, is due to be unleashed later this year through Nuclear Blast Records.⁣⁣

No info beyond just the album title, but if it’s anything like the last two then it’s gonna be a banger.

Hammer is maybe my favorite CoF album and the follow up was damn good. Looking forward to this.

Title is a bit unimaginative for Cradle. Hopefully the album itself is better than the last one.

Is this going to be a Borg concept album?

"a new as-yet-named keyboardist/backing singer"

Still rather surprising we don't know who this is yet.

Regardless this is probably my most anticipated album of the year. I'm a huge fan of Hammer and Cryptoriana.

The last two albums were great, I'm hoping this one is too. This line-up's been working pretty well together - Ashok and Shaw really stepped up this band's guitar game compared to... well, anything between '03 and '12.

The title's a bit lacking I suppose, but it's a better title than "The Manticore and Other Horrors" at least - and will hopefully be a better album too (I'm expecting it to be).

I enjoyed Hammer of the Witches much more than Cryptoriana, which has too many solos and lacks the punch Hammer has.
Existence is Futile sounds similar to Exercises in Futility. If they borrowed some musical touches from Mgła as well, I will be glad to hear it.

On social media they're teasing something called Crawling King Chaos for tomorrow. The comments indicate there's a video waiting to go up on YouTube, so looks like we could be getting a new song very soon.

Genuinely feeling pretty damn hyped.

Dunno if anyone else watched their livestream a couple months ago, but Anabelle Iratni is a pretty damn good choice as new female vocalist - she impressed me through their whole set, pretty much. She almost reminded me of Sarah Jezebel Deva in some ways. I'm curious if she has a major role in this new song.

Here's the cover art for the album.
Looks kinda nuts, also is that lady shitting birds?

Spoiler tags due to it being NSFW + big.

Lol I can't unsee the girl shitting birds.

Aside from that, it's a crazy cover. Lots of NSFW things going on. I like the artist's style but I preferred the more restrained covers of the previous albums. I think aside from the shitting birds thing, the demon looks a bit weak. But Great colors, lots of details, and cool background.

Wild cover. Definitely piques my interest. I liked what I heard off the last one so I should dig more into their recent shit.

Add me to the hype train! The last two albums have been some of the absolute best that they've put out ever and at the very least the best since Midian (as much as I do like their mid period, Godspeed especially). The cover rules!

Cover is awesome. And anyone weirded out by ass birds isn't familiar with Hieronymus Bosch. It's a recreation of part of one of his paintings, down to the glass-outfitted human toilet and literal "pothead."

Well, I took a close look at some of Bosch's paintings (something I admittedly haven't done often). It does indeed appear to be based upon... you know, the right wing of the garden triptych.

Love the art, hoping the song is as good as the last two albums.

And yes, the demon on the cover is, in fact, shitting out women into a tentacle monster.

If you took the guitar riffs and isolated them, what metal genre do they sound like? I hear Melodic Death Metal and it's so weird because Cradle of Filth can sound like many different genres but Melodic Death Metal.

Well, that was a disappointing listen. Gives me huge Damnation and a Day vibes.

Let's see, maybe the other songs are better, Hammer and Cryptoriana were good but this falls a bit short in comparison.

That was quite good on first listen. Preferred it to anything off the last album at least, so a promising start.

I loved Hammer, didnt care for the follow up but I am curious about the new one. Really dislike the cover art and I just finished hearing that first track which was good on first listen (a couple of really good sections). Not enough to make a judgment on though.

I'm kind of surprised that anyone's favourite Cradle albums are anything but Dusk... or Cruelty..., Hammer of the Witches was well-meaning and quite well done, I suppose, but better than those 90's classics? Impossible.

Yeah that would be my reaction as well, that album had a lot of buzz around it in 2009 too. Maybe they'll call their next album The Number of the Beast to see just how much they can get away with.

Let's have a "cover art of the year"-poll this year please, I need to vote for this.

As for the song - pretty good, but I'm currently not totally into their sound but will be coming back for more when it fits my mood better.

If I were to make a top Cradle list, the only constant would be the ones I don't like (Manticore and Thornography) ending low, any other could reasonably reach top position depending on what day of the week it is. They're not my favorite band but aside from those two albums I find them really consistent, quality-wise.

Like if I were to make a tier list, it'd be:

C - Manticore
B - Thornography
A - All the rest

I mean, I think the last two albums are their best work since those days - they're just really well done to my ears, a lot of really cool guitar work and noticeably renewed energy from Dani Filth. I wouldn't say they overtake "Dusk and Her Embrace" and "Midian" as my personal favorites, but they come closer in quality to that classic '94-'00 era than anything they did from "Damnation and a Day" up to/including "The Manticore and Other Horrors" imo.

I'm pleasantly surprised by both Hieronymus Bosh worshipping cover and the new single. Cryptoriana wasn't as great as Hammer, mostly because of solos, whereas Crawling King Chaos sounds fresh and promising. CoF are one of a few bands whose full discography is on my playlist (for 11 years now). I like how every album is different and likeable at the same time.

Someone mentioned Sarah Jezebel Deva, which reminds me of two songs she released recently. I think these may be her best vocally:

Midian is a perfect album as well, in my opinion, and it's the only other 100% I'd give them aside from Vempire, Dusk, and the remixed Cruelty.

--

New song rules as I hoped, although it's obvious Youtube's compression butchered the audio quality. I anticipate the actual album version of the song will sound a gazillion times better.

New track is solid - sounds basically like what I'd expect but it's busy and ambitious and pretty cool for all that.

As much as I like Cryptoriana, Heartbreak and Seance was probably the "safest" choice to make into a music video. This song has a bit more attitude.

Looking forward to late October.
