Needs research. - White Mercury
Needs research. - Sinful Excess
Members: guitarists Thomas "Tom" Keen and Nick Ferguson, drummer Budde (all were early members of https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Attica/43851 )
Information about both of these Horsens, Denmark bands came from the Swedish 'zine "Hot Rockin'" #4 (members), and an article in "Hot Rockin" #10 (1985) for post-Sinful Excess band White Mercury, who are a self-described "Nuclear Metal" band.
Article translated to English:
Spoiler: show
WHITE MERCURY is a new Danish band from Horsens.
The members of the group come mostly from Horsens where they have previously beaten their musical folds in different bands in Horsenes, but both the 2 current guitarists, and the drummer, were gathered in the group "SINFUL EXCESS", and later they helped to start the Aarhus band ATTICA. Just over half a year ago, the group got a new bassist who comes from Silkeborg, and in this half year the group has had the classic ensemble with: 2 guitarists, 1 bassist and 1 drummer and ..... ..yes that is where the group's problem lies.
Look, a while ago, their singer had to leave Dannevang, as he had to appear in court in "LA.", And has not returned, so therefore the group is missing a singer, and this is where I get into the car led, as the group has sent me a demo, this demo is an extremely scrapped version of 4 of their tracks, and is only intended for a singer who might be interested. The group's style is a bit difficult to classify, so I stick to what they call it, namely "NUCLEAR METAL".
If there should be a singer out there in "Bangerkøbing" who might be interested, you can contact: Thomas, Næsset 24, 8700 Horsens, tif (05) 62 20 90.

Added. - Rigor Mortis
Spoiler: show
Location: Denmark
Genre: Heavy Metal with some Thrash/Speed Metal influence
- another obscure band from the same 'zine. Not sure if they released anything. They played at Kermit's Heavy Rock Metal festival in 1985 with Evil Prayer, Crystal Knight, Schaque (hard rock). Played a show the same year with Wasted (Denmark) and Kim Sixx. Original songs include "Rock the Witch", "Escape Now". A guitarist named Flemming joined in 1985. They are briefly mentioned and have live shows reviewed in "Hot Rockin" 'zines 8-10 in 1985. Sold t-shirts at their gigs. No mention of a demo or release of any kind, but other issues of the 'zine might provide such information.
Logo: https://imgur.com/a/q2fxNOt
Band photo: https://imgur.com/a/SvxmsHk

- Sept. 24 update: have sent a message to the Wasted (Denmark) Facebook page inquiring about info on all 3.
- Wasted wrote back a couple of times and said that some members of Rigor Mortis (Den) are on Facebook, but nothing more specific could be gathered. I read in another 'zine that they were comparable to Pretty Maids.

Needs research. - Badge-X
Genre: Thrash metal
Location : Japan

It was a band of the former necrophilia guitarist Katsu.
They are described as "underground metal band" in tthe bio in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L8fJA0zDOk

The band had two songs on some various artists compliatios, so it is very likely, that they have also released some demos. If so, then I need proof of valid releases for the demos and also samples.

Regarding Cold Tragedy, I found the song "Descendants of the Black Plague" on YouTube: https://youtu.be/9S2d3LdZ51Q
Definitely sounds like deathcore to me.

On the band's YouTube channel, the description for their playthrough of their song "Epidemic" mentions that song being the title track of a "new record" so they might have an album called "Epidemic" (although it may have been upcoming at the time and was never released). A commenter on that video (the comment is from 9 years ago) mentions getting an EP of theirs "almost two years ago."

EDIT: Their MySpace is still up (https://myspace.com/coldtragedy), and it lists some of the songs from their alleged 2009 EP as being part of something called "Online EP." One of the songs even has that cover that's connected with that alleged self titled EP. It's likely the EP existed but there definitely still is a lack of evidence. Perhaps someone can contact Marco Arndt.

Needs research. - Event Horizon
Location: Clovis, California, US
Genre: Melodic Death/Thrash Metal
Discography: "No Time for Tomorrow" demo (2004)
- former name of the band Writhen. Further details here: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Writhen/39557
The 2 former bass players listed here, Sam Mosley and Justin Garcia might have been only part of Event Horizon. Don't know this for sure, but a biography that I came across said that they had a couple of bass players early on, and the M.A. page had been for both incarnations of the band up until today, when I took "No Time for Tomorrow" off of the page.

I sent a message through My Will Be Done's (Marco's current band) Bandcamp. Let's see what happens.

All I've found for Cold Tragedy's works is various Russian forums with either long-dead filelocker downloads or links that don't work with Firefox at all. Not a single thing on how the band released anything.

UPDATE:
Spoiler: show

I almost feel like I have enough to submit. Almost. Cold Cave appears to be released, as well as Descendants of the Black Plague (both digitally), the self titled was never actually released. A Tragedy in 11 Chapters seems like it was released too (no cover included), and I was given a download for it as well. The link for Descendants of the Black Plague was dead via copyright claim sadly, though I'm not really sure how given what was said in the screenshots. A couple old blogspots have shown up with the same Mediafire link though, listing that this was a band-sanctioned link.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-mGkDJniHI this video says A Tragedy in 11 Chapters is from 2006.

Metalcuresheadaches: You'd posted about the band Michael Hero a while back - their tape is on eBay currently, in case you're interested: https://www.ebay.com/itm/324803626494?h ... Swm79ckbCA
- going to remove Keith Anderson from the list, as it is described as hard rock rather than metal at 2 dependable sources.

Muhammadabbadabba:
- Battlecry from Kentucky, US is fine to add. The clips are metal, and the release info is given on their official page. It's okay if the cover art isn't found yet - they advertised its release.
- Regarding Crown of Thorns (Georgia, US), it would be worth a try adding them based on the review that Paganius was able to find from "Heavens Metal" 'zine #23: https://imgur.com/a/lmBilFq While the old eBay link for the tape expired, here is another, revealing 2 additional band members: Orlando Rokafont (bass), Doug Riesberg (drums).
https://www.ebay.com/itm/174820448697

Witcher: I'm going to remove Color Me Red from the list. The 2 songs here are rock, and it was described as hard rock by someone who owns the tape and has a less strict definition of metal vs. hard rock than the site does.
https://christiantapeunderground.wordpr ... or-me-red/

IronMaidens_666: Regarding Creepy Family, the full demo qualifies for the site musically. Their drummer was Jean-Marc Pustelnik. I sent a message on Facebook, asking if the material had been released on tape. If I hear back, will post new info in this thread.
https://myspace.com/jeanmarcpustelnik/music/songs
https://www.facebook.com/jeanmarc.pustelnik

Regarding Dizzy (Sweden) - it'd be great to find out if that tape was released. Has anyone tried to contact the 3 known band members to ask about it?
Stefan Ögren - Guitar? (Paradise)
Bengt Rönning - Guitar? (Paradise, Malice, Raindrop, Yukon, Camillas Bockrock, Que, Angelzone, Army of Covers)
Mats Ögren - Keyboards? (Paradise, Angelzone)
Dizzy (Swe)

This is metallic enough I'd say but in order to need to listen to it (without paying) a mod would need to activate their free trial of Amazon Music (which can be cancelled straight away). The mod would have to look up the band on their own country's Amazon Music.

https://music.amazon.es/artists/B00CSGA ... m-stallion

I've purchased a song earlier if that helps.

If I can submit it like this, I will.

Go ahead and submit it. If you're able to temporarily upload it somewhere like YouTube, even just a few clips from each song that would be awesome. I'm sure we can figure something out - thanks.

Battlecry (USA) is currently blacklisted, so it might be for a different band with the same name.

Re: Crown of Thorns. On principle, I typically don't add bands whose music has yet to surface online. I like to at least believe they're Metal by listening to them first.

Muhammadabbadabba: The blacklisting for Battlecry has been removed (it was for a different band).

Not a bad idea to wait to submit Crown of Thorns, since in that review their sound wasn't covered in much detail.

That's likely, IMO, but not sure. Palafolls is a town in the province of Barcelona (and so, the Mandragora from Barcelona could be the one from Palafolls). Two demos by the same band could exist (or rather it could be the same with a weird change in the title)... and it's strange haing two bands in the same province releasing a demo in the same year. Plus, I've managed to find the YouTube channel of the true drummer of Mandragora. He commented in this video, so it must be him, not the one who played in Gates of Valhalla:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc4s2b7hhsQ
https://www.youtube.com/c/mARCpUIGOfficial/about

Maybe he could clear our doubts.

Thanks for the info, BlackFlag. (update 9/30: have sent Marc an email to try to verify whether this is the same band or not)

Needs research. - Stato Brado / Status Braida (a.k.a. Statvs Braida)
Location: Como, Lombardy, Italy
Genre: Heavy/Power Metal
Formed in 1994, as Stato Brado. Changed the name around 1997/'98 to Status Braida, or Statvs Braida (they're referred to under both variations online).
Band members: Alessandro "Ale" Pittoni (guitars, 1994-?), Marco Leone (vocals, 1994-), Stefano Carnelli (unknown, early member), Roberto Greco, a.k.a. Roberto Pavesi (unknown, early member - https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... #ui-tabs-1 ), Mirko Petocchi (drums, ?-1998 - https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... #ui-tabs-1 ), Casty (drums, 1998- .. ex-Euthanasia, maybe not one of the 2 on the site), Simone Pesenti (bass, ?-1998 - https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... #ui-tabs-1 ), Mauro Bottini (guitar), Santino Talarico (bass), Andrea Lanza (guitars), Marco Tessore (guitars, backing vocals), Gianluca Castiglia (drums, backing vocals), Ivan Lorello (unknown, 1999-?)
Release(s): 4-song (cover-song only) demo CD as Status Braida/Statvs Braida. Contributed the song "L' albero dei corvi" (a live track) to the 2001 "Hear the Sound of Beer" compilation, which features 12 bands. The bio on the archive of their old webpage mentions other original tracks that were written and played live in the late '90s were “La porta nel buio”, “Qualcosa che resta”, and “Senza terra”. Uncertain if there is a valid release of original music.

I received an email from Marc Puig, drummer of Mandrágora from Palafolls, Spain (the one on Bandcamp) confirming that they were a different band than Mandragora from Barcelona, who are currently on Metal Archives (and released the "Rising" demo in 1994). Good to submit then, GraveWish, if you'd like to.

Needs research. - Conan / Konan
Location: Hellas, Greece
Genre: Heavy Metal/Hard Rock
Band members: Dimitris Moutevelides/Drums, Thanassis Tsimoudis/Drums, Kostas Tzounis/Bass, Panagiotis Baxevanis/Guitar ( https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... nis/355035 ), Sotiris Papastergiou/Keyboards, Vasilis Papadopoulos/Vocals
- several recordings exist, but not sure if they have anything official in the discography yet. They have an active Facebook page, and maybe if there isn't a release that could get them onto the site currently they will eventually put something out there digitally. Haven't looked thoroughly through their Facebook page or tried to contact them yet.

Added. - Prowler
Spoiler: show
Location: West Berlin, Germany
Genre: Melodic Heavy Metal
Discography: Demo 1983
- description on Corroseum: "One more of West Berlin's early Heavy Metal acts, when the local scene there still wasn't infected by the US Glam stuff. Prowler's sound on their obscure Demo dating from 1983 offered several strong NWOBHM twin leads, while the whole sound of the tape inclined into a pleasant melodic direction."
Would be great to find out more details (band members, track listing, audio samples)

Needs research. - Alexis Machine
Listed genre: Thrash Metal
Location: Union, New Jersey, US
- Self-titled demo (cassette, 1994; track listing: It's Your Nightmare/ Nobody (edited)/ Terminated Youth/ Nobody (non-edited) - available on Discogs, but fairly expensive)
Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/artist/2571258- ... ch%C3%ADne
- Not to be confused with Alexis Machine from Brandon, Florida (released "Time to Pay" demo tape in 1994).

Awesome. Feel free to submit them, Stealth (or post here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=131538 ). I just listened for a couple minutes and it sounds promising.

Just a general note about this thread, not having to do with the note above - a lot of the bands listed here are so rare/obscure that the best way to go about getting proof and details about releases and samples might be to try contacting band members on Facebook or by emailing/contacting other bands that they play(ed) in that have an active webpage. While it might be impossible to find images of some old and out-of-print releases online, a screenshot of conversation with one of its members where it's confirmed that a release took place, and as much detail as possible about it (track listing, distribution) would be sufficient proof of release for something that rare. Any of the bands that I post in here can be submitted by others, and aren't reserved. If anyone is interested in continuing to research some lesser-known NWOBHM bands from the scene that paved the way for what metal went on to become which aren't yet listed, there has been some information found for a lot of potential additions here, which aren't part of the main research list:

Regarding Darkness Shall Rise

Needs research. - Darkness Shall Rise

Genre: Melodic Deathcore (early); Djentcore (later)
Location: Santiago, Chile
Discography:
-Rigor Mortis (EP, 2007)
-Kali Yuga (Full length, 2015)
Known members:
-Hernán "Anatta" Ortega (Vocals)
-Gerald Johanssen (Vocals)
-Claudio Romo (Guitars)
-Joaquin (Guitars)
-Fernando Navarro (Guitars)
-Felipe (Bass)
-Daniel Ríos (Bass)
-Luis Flores (Drums)
-Lucho (Drums)

The band's 2015 album is obviously unacceptable djentcore. However, their 2007 EP (which is actually longer than ther 2015 album) is pretty obviously acceptable Gothenburg deathcore. However, despite the fact that it seems to obviously be a valid release, I can't find solid evidence of its release format (whether it was released physically, digitially, or both). The closest thing I could find is on an archived version of the site "Fotolog" (which is official since it was linked on their official MySpace page), it says "Rigormortis descargas directa" (which translates to "Rigormortis direct download") but there is no actual download link. More solid evidence of its format would be appreciated.

Links:
Fotolog: http://web.archive.org/web/200812280428 ... /dsr_metal (the link that mentions the "direct download")
Archived MySpace page: http://web.archive.org/web/200812201059 ... sshallrise
Current MySpace page: https://myspace.com/darknessshallrise
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DarknessShallRise/
Hernán "Anatta" Ortega's Facebook (for anyone that wants to try to contact him): https://www.facebook.com/deathvocal
Full EP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2w6VPqfqfA

I found that someone uploaded some MySpace demo tracks for this band on YouTube (he's the only person to upload them so I'm inclined to believe him) and he told me he got them from the band itself. I asked him then if Rigor Mortis was released as a CD or digitally and he said it was released digitally. With what I've gathered previously, along with what this guy said, is that enough to submit the band?

EDIT: I'll probably go ahead and submit it soon.

Submitted.
