Some 80's & 90's Japanese metal demos I've seen sold at auction recently that don't appear on the site and have not been black-listed. Re: Virferox

I've noticed that this is actually a former name of Ulterior (https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Ulterior/46359) and shares three of the members. I'd amended it from their old website a year ago, but forgotten the new name. They started as 'Virferox' in 1989, changed it to 'Wedge' in 1997 and then again to 'Ulterior' in 2002. Style changed from Power Metal to Thrash over this period according to their guitarist. They released cassettes or CDs under all three names, those from the first two are listed here:

https://web.archive.org/web/20020307015 ... /demo.html

There are samples there, but unfortunately not archived. Guitarist describes their early style as Virferox as "Based on Iron Maiden, but with a German-style melody added...kinda." in their profile page FWIW.

Bumping an old comment about a Brazilian band. Identified as death metal, ain't sure if this is enough for them to be submitted or nay:

MDL wrote:
As for Bloody Death, I was able to scratch some info, but I don't know if that's sufficient to garantee their approval.

There's a small review in an online zine. It's identified as a death metal/brutal death metal demo:

http://velhochicorockclube.blogspot.com ... ferno.html

Spoiler: show
Starting off with excerpts of a diabolical possession that reminds you about the real existence of the angel of death, "Portal Para o Inferno" goes on with six tracks, full of heaviness, compensating in fury and sincerity what it lacks in sonorous quality (as it is an independent release).

The title track is a great composition and brings good variations (sic) translating what it is, in its lyrics, as an eternal sleep; then, "Marchando Para o inferno", that will remind you a lot about the last song, in what seems like a conceptual album. An interesting alternance between aggressive velocity and slowness shows what "A Morte" is, that also brings the best solo on the disc. "Hino de Guerra" is fast, aggressive and
devastated, where it sounds like the drums appear to constrast with the rest of the sonorous destruction that is dictated by the other instruments - that's also how the last one sounds like, that ends up with the massacre that was proposed by Bloody Death in their first demo disc, that's all sung in Portuguese.

There's also this piece of information that makes a small summary about the band:

Spoiler: show
http://velhochicorockclube.blogspot.com/2010/01/bloody-death.html

"SATANISMO, MORTE, guerras e caos são apenas alguns dos temas abordados pela Bloody Death, esta banda de death metal formada na cidade de Petrolina-PE que nasceu inspirada nos melhores precursores do estilo, como Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Death, Diabolical e Benediction. "

"Satanism, death, wars and chaos are just some of the lyrical themes written by Bloody Death, this death metal band that was formed in the city of Petroline-PE, that was born upon the inspiration of the best forerunners of the genre, such as Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Death, Diabolical and Benediction."

http://velhochicorockclube.blogspot.com ... -demo.html

This one identifies their demo as being released as a CD:

Spoiler: show
"O http://WWW.BRUTALZONE.BLOGSPOT.COM, blog especializado em metal extremo e que tem uma grande importância na internet para os headbengers, disponibilizou um link para download do CD Portal Para o Inferno, primeiro trabalho demo da banda Bloody Death. "

"[website], a blog specialized in extreme metal and with such a big importance on the internet to the headbangers, shared a link for the download of the CD "Portal para o inferno", the first demo work by Bloody Death."

That Brutalzone blogspot is dead. But the comparisons made by VCRC don't seem to be very far off from reality to me, because I'd say that, if they know all these bands, they're certainly able to identify a brutal/death metal album when they listen to it.

Needs research - Assassination
Location: Brazil
Genre: Unknown
Spoiler: show
All artists were added by the same user

Band members:
Pablo Possessed (guitars, vocals) https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... sed/600836
Rodrigo Death (drums) https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... ath/600837
Val Omen Christ (bass) https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... ist/600838

It's surely not the same band as the already listen Assassination band from Santa Catarina. None of the band members' names match and it is still quite a distance between SC and Pernambuco, where Pablo's other band, Bloody Death, was from. Although this might not be an off-side, the former situation surely transmits the idea that we're possible talking about different bands.

Thanks, adding them to the list. In general, for bands in this thread it's a good idea to add notes onto the site about them - listing the band on known artist's pages, including notes on artist pages about what info is known so far, putting a link to the band in their unlisted bands, etc. This will help people browsing the site, who may have ways to get further information to become aware or be reminded of a band in need of more research, since a lot of them don't check this thread.

Just out of curiosity, there's a band called Sobstory that is blacklisted, but I'd like to know if they've already released something. This was back in 2014, so, they could probably have something new out that would make them elegible for addition. If not, I guess those orphan entries can be just deleted, since the band is most likely over (I can't find them anywhere)

Here's an artist for reference: https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... eon/592734

Needs research - Suicidal Euphoria
Location: Russia
Genre: Depressive Black Metal

Here's their entire album (2011)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_X8l1NzrDE

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a proof of release, but some individuals on RYM have mentioned, in the rating catalog, that "they've used to own" this album. This means that it was out, but we don't know for sure on which format it was released. Is this information enough for submission or should we try to find something more?

We need to find proof of release of this album. Wasn't able to find anything that clearly proofs that this album was formally released.

Awesome! You can submit it when you get it.

Thanks!

There were two ‘Thrash 7 bundle’ compilation tapes released in 1988 and 1989, each with seven Japanese Thrash and (some Hardcore/Punk) bands on them as follows:
I: DeadClaw, Idora, Gabish, Dictator, G.B.R., Hellchild & Spoiler.
See copy here: https://jp.mercari.com/item/m80421205181
II: Dictator, Gabish, White Slavery, Hellchild, 臨終懺悔 (Rinjyu Zange), Purgatory Myth & Skeleton Crew.
Three bands were on both, so eleven bands in total.
Dead Claw, Gabish, Hell Child, White Slavery and Skeleton Crew are already listed here. Idora and Rinjyu Zange are reasonably well known Hardcore Punk bands and, judging by the Skull Smash Compilation VHS (which I have), Spoiler are also more Punk oriented. So that leaves three more potentially valid bands:

Needs research. - Dictator
Location: Japan
Genre: Thrash Metal
Known Discography (excluding ‘Thrash 7 bundle’):
‘No Mercy’ on Skull Smash Vol.1 ‎(VHS, Explosion Records. 1989)
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7yh6nr
‘Fight Child‘ on Sword Of Death To Thrash ‎(LP, Stinger Record, 1990)
https://www.discogs.com/artist/2396713-Dictator-8

Needs research. - G.B.R.
Location: Japan
Listed Genre: Thrash Metal/Hardcore Punk(?)
There is a band with the same name on a Swiss comp at Discogs but I don’t think it’s the same one (though the period/genre matches), unless someone knows otherwise?

Needs research. - Purgatory Myth
Location: Japan
Listed Genre: Thrash Metal(?)
Just going by the name, this one sounds a bit more promising.

Need evidence of a valid release (and sample or reviews for the last two) as there are two many bands on the ‘Thrash 7’ tapes to count.

Added. - Workman
Spoiler: show
Location: Italy
Band member: Piero Seghetti (everything)
Discography: "Suffering Reaction" demo (1995, Supporto Italiano label)
- review here, but samples are still needed because this doesn't convince of a clear-cut case of metalness:
https://www.spiralarchive.com/BZ10.htm
"The music seems to be influenced by Metal in one form or another. Chugging guitar riffs and double bass drum work dominate. Production work is good and the playing is tight throughout. It ends up sounding not unlike bands like Fear Factory or Biohazard."
eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125178315595?h ... Sw7z5iH7Jn
(more info found by Baldadeath, May '23) -

Needs research. - Inopcit
Location: Chile
Genre: Unknown
Band member info in this profile (search for "Angélica Andrade", who is the vocalist): https://www.metal-archives.com/users/xtian91

Couldn't find anything else about this band. There could probably be a draft with some information about it.

--------

Needs research. - Luna Roja
Location: Mexico
Genre: Unknown
Band member info in this profile (search for "Angelik Mont", who is the vocalist): https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Necrohazard

Just like the case above, there could probably be a draft with some information about it. Unsure if it's the same band as this was before: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Si ... ica/106586

None of the musicians' names match the ones listed in Sinfonia Celta, they were all added in 2018, much later after Luna Roja's name changing (2004) and that band only lasted an year, not sure how would all those members be replaced to quickly.

--------------

Needs research. - Flagrum
Location: Mexico
Genre: Unknown
Band member info in this profile (search for "Angel", who is the lead guitarist): https://www.metal-archives.com/users/diabolux

No other info is known.

Needs research. - Quarantania
Location: USA
Genre: Unknown
Apparently, the only band member: Alice Johansson (with the role "Everything") https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... son/831088

The entry is from 2020, so, there's certainly something out here waiting to be discovered.

---------

Needs research. - Codex: Clepsydra
Location: Italy
Genre: Unknown
Band member info in this profile (search for "Alice in Wonderland", who is the lead singer): https://www.metal-archives.com/users/Ce ... he%20piper

I couldn't find anything else.

Demo is YouTube stream only - confirmed with an ex-band member. - Machinegear
Spoiler: show
Location: Italy
Genre: Thrash Metal
- they recorded a 3-song demo in 2015, but I'm not sure yet if it has been released outside of YouTube streaming (a shame that is the case for so many bands)

Added. - Quo Vadis
Spoiler: show
Location: Germany
- their song "Quo Vadis" is included on an exclusively German band compilation on Golden Core / ZYX Records, "Sound & Action...", that contains 95% metal bands (one or two hard rock). With the well-known Canadian band by this name and the song also being named "Quo Vadis" it is hard to search for more info about it (though I tried for a few minutes).
https://www.discogs.com/release/2000967 ... 8-Volume-1 (I'll buy a copy). Liner notes should have additional info, from the one glimpse I was able to find of them: https://www.facebook.com/BrainlessMetal ... 6628076782

Added. - Atomic Peacemaker
Spoiler: show
Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5yDkrYXL7NcdaqMsSd4utT
- crappy thrash metal that has one single out. Likely will have something follow. One to check back on.

Added. - Holy Hitman
Spoiler: show

- they just have 2 digital singles out with identical artwork for what looks like an upcoming release. Another to check back on later.

Needs research. - Diable Besta Morta
Location: Mexico
Genre: Thrash/Death Metal
- YouTube video titled "Muerte en el Infierno (Demo Completo 1986)". Professional-looking artwork to go with the video, but can't find anything more at the moment. A little bit skeptical about the year/validity of the upload.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuZ-mWKXGO8
- (update Dec. 20, 2023: the video is now dead. Possible misspelling of Diable Vesta Mortar, which was listed in this thread with release info but no audio today - though the year would also be off here if that's the case, as they formed in the '90s)

Needs research. - Ready & Waiting
Listed genre: Heavy Metal
Discography: "The Battle Is Won" demo (1993, cassette; track listing: The Edge/ Stand Up/ Safe/ After All/ Rock-n-You'll Roll/ Wise Up/ Change of Heart/ The Battle's Won)

G_One: There is enough in the information that you posted here that you can submit Clockwork (Italy) - their only demo is available for download on Bandcamp. Also, if the archived website of Autumn Leaves mentions that they had a release as you had mentioned, just include that link in a submission, along with as many samples as you can find - thanks.
