Always thought the riff at about 1:30 in "Remains in Red" by Entrails...

Spoiler: show

sounded awfully similar to the riff at about 4:03 in "Inpropagation" by Carcass...

Spoiler: show

Still like the riff in both contexts though, so a bit of a win-win.

Not sure if this has been posted here already, but I've found a YT channel called Heavy Match that has posted hundreds of these similarities between metal songs and is adding more daily. https://www.youtube.com/c/HeavyMatch

Not exactly like the others mentioned so far, but the very end of Conquer the Sun by Ravenous EH, when you hear someone screams "conquered the sun" among a crowd...

...reminds me a lot of Satanic Speed Metal by Destroyer 666, except they scream "fucking cunt".

Same "fake live" vibe at the end, and then the scream and it cuts abruptly.

Uhh, At Doom's Gate is based off Metallica's No Remorse, mate. Yes, Bobby based a lot of Doom 1 and 2's tracks off popular metal songs of the time. This is a widely known fact.

The intro riff to "Gettin' Away With Murder" by Slaughter House is very similar to the intro riff from "Cross of Iron" by Nuclear Assault.

God, that hair. The cover art design. All of it coming together made me expect 70s pomp rock meets Meat Loaf-styled first wave metal.

I know. My comment actually comes from the title of a page literally called "Bobby Prince is a Filthy Thief". I was just pointing out this particular song sounds similar to E1M1 because I've never seen anyone mention this specific song sounds similar to it.

The chorus of Telepathic Nightmare from the new Midnight sounds a lot like the chorus to Coronation of the Serpent by Rotting Christ.

Couple of others. Forget which song, but Immortal uses the Darth Vader theme on one of their earlier albums. Similarly, Bathory used the Jaws riff on Equimanthorn.

I guess the BM folks really like their John Williams scores.

Taken as wholes, I'm amazed that I never figured out the similarities between "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "Mandatory Suicide" before. They aren't at all 1:1, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that Slayer took some ideas after reading a Brian Slagel interview where he mentions that both bands would chat with him to see what the other was doing.

Time Flies - Porcupine Tree and Dogs by Pink Floyd

It's very similar in music and theme. I love both, but the connection is pretty strong. It's not metal, but if Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote Time Flies Roger Waters might write a song about it.

"Atonement" by Opeth sounds like a Mario desert level.

Not what I expected, and this wasn't in the original version of Concrete; the rerecording as Concreto added an extra section to the song.

"Square Hammer" by Ghost and "Message in a Bottle" by The Police. Instantly noticed it the first time I heard the Ghost song on the radio one day.

The covers to Something Wild and the original art for Dance Of Death (which, rip-off or not, is still obviously miles better than the final version):

Every time I see the original version of Dance of Death's cover, the more I wish we actually got that cover because it's actually pretty cool

Good one. SH also reminds me of My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend by Type O. Knowing Pete, he probably nicked that from the Police himself (with an obvious nod toward Black Planet by the Sisters).

The riffs in both songs are very similar.

Another Anaal Nathrakh one. It's the same idea for both riffs.

There is a YT channel called Heavy Match that deals with this very topic. The dude removed a thousand of his videos for whatever reason, but hopefully, he'll put them all back again soon.

The Gathering at 2:12

Nevermore at 1:17

A pretty simple riff, and Nevermore give it a twist at the end, but it's a similarity, alright. Both bands on Century Media too.

Btw, both these songs are fucking excellent.

Whelp, just made a thread similar to this one, which is sort of meta I guess...

Anyway, hearing the intro to this new(ish) Origin track hit me like a ton of bricks:

I knew I heard it somewhere before, took me like 10mins to figure out it's from here (~1m43s if the timecode doesn't work):

This one is pretty egregious. Like they are extremely similar.

Deicide - Trifixion and Atheist - Retribution. Not the *closest* but I've always thought that this one is probably intentional plagiarism. Very minor part all things considered.
