Added. - Killer Instinct
Spoiler: show
Location: unknown, but very likely Virginia, US or a nearby state
- just an interesting-looking tape found in somebody's collection of early-to-mid '90s demo tapes that seem to mostly or all be metal bands from Virginia. Possible that it's one of the 3 US bands on M.A. by this name (which are all somewhat near the state of Virginia), but not in their discography with this particular cover art if that is the case. Have asked for more information on FB.

Thanks, BlackFlag. Do you think it would be worth keeping them on this list for research, or better to cross off in your opinion?

The logo looks pretty metal. It won't hurt keeping them in the list.

She appeared in the "Ellas son eléctricas" documentary. Here the excerpts she was in (no info about Tension):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5QK0QYTdU8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfTre34Oj3M
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXPXXjfmLW0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoGIPycydDQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z6AijG8aMw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_ieWDqeNd8

One remarkable fact about her is she's had a significant hearing loss since an early age. In one of these videos she gives the names of the other members of Tension: Paco Sala, Óscar Périz, Ismael García and Plácido Gómez. Some of them play in hard rock band Boner:

A seller on Yahoo! Japan Auctions has recently listed six rare examples of 80’s Japanese metal & hard rock records (at ‘serious collectors’ only’ prices!). Axe has been listed here recently (https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Axe/3540465293), but the other five have not and they’re not blacklisted either. From the descriptions three of the remainder don’t seem sufficiently metal to meet the site’s requirements (e.g ‘classic hard rock’, ‘hard rock/AOR atmosphere’, Whitesnake comparisons etc.). The remaining pair of bands sound more promising, although sound samples might be hard to come by as they are rarities, but maybe someone can turn up some more detailed reviews or some other evidence:

Needs research. - Jessmeiyer
Location: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan
Band members: Kazuaki Ando: Guitars, Keyboards; Akira Ishihara: Vocals (https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... ara/171820); Junichi Yamakawa: Drums
Discography: ‘The End of the Sky’ (EP, 4 tracks, ~1989)
Pictures: https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/g1075170805
Seller’s description: “With free-wheeling guitars and keyboards and threateningly explosive high-tone vocals in the Scandinavian style, I think they resemble Twilight Project or Stratovarius’.
Band set up by Akira & friends while at college. Started out playing covers of foreign metal bands but moved on to record this 4 track original release.

Added. - Knife
Spoiler: show
Location: Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan
Band Members: Toshikazu Sawa(Guitars); Shunichi Isoda (Bass); Hitoshi Fukuoka (Vocals); Kazuo Tanaka (Drums - https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... 2000); Hiroshi Konishi (Guitars)
Discography: ‘Power Syndrome’ (EP, 4 tracks, 45rpm, Mix Records, 1984)
Pictures: https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/l1075166564
Seller’s description: “A quintet with twin guitars, A1 is aggressive, A2 lyrical, B1 has good riffing and a three stranded shuffle rhythm and B2 makes you feel the essence of the Kyoto metal scene found in bands such as EXCURIVER and EBONY EYES, it has both wide variety and rich content.”

Ok the Metalness of Berzerker is unquestionable.
I've submitted it with the little info that was obtainable.

Discogs seller had no info either.

Needs research. - Ratzmajik
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, US
Genre: Heavy Metal/Hard Rock (?), female-fronted
Band members: Chris "Trash" Gordon (drums) - https://www.facebook.com/chris.gordon.140
Steve Luton (a.k.a. "Doc Louie") (guitars)
Discography: "Bend Over & Scream" demo (1988, cassette)
- could use audio samples, as there's a chance they're more hard rock than metal. They changed their name to Villain around the early '90s, and got a different vocalist.

Added. - Lunar Eclipse
Spoiler: show
Location: Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Listed genre: Heavy Metal
Band members include: https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/Tormentor/6193
https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/Infernal/6209
https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... lka/391285
- formed as a Desaster side project by Tormentor and Infernal in 2005 for riffs that they wanted to use, but that weren't fitting for Desaster. Released a 2-song 7" vinyl on High Roller Records in 2014. Kind of surprising there isn't more about them to be found online.

Needs research. - Victorian Blitz
Location: US (Louisiana?)
Genre: Heavy Metal
Band members: info here - https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... eau/975637
Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/release/2551210 ... Blitz-Demo . Entry here offers nothing that YouTube videos don't, but main Discogs band page says that they recorded a few demos.
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@DFRONTMAN/sear ... an%20blitz
- in comment on this video, vocalist says the year and track listing of that demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acyfRk7TlDI
- release info uncertain
Live footage '87 with 2 line-up changes from above: https://www.youtube.com/@thundertyrant/ ... an%20blitz

Needs research. - Snaggle Tooth
Genre: Heavy/Thrash Metal/Punk
Location: Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan
Band members: Shinji Tatsugami (https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... ami/157628) (Guitars, Vocals (Backing)); Masanao Tatsugami (Bass, Vocals (Backing)); Masayuki Higuchi (https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... uchi/11254) (Drums); Kyoji Azuma (Vocals)
Discography: ‘1st Demo’ (Cassette, 3 tracks, 1991)
Pictures: https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/m1075780742
Not the Hiroshima band of the same name already on site. Early band of Shinji and Masayuki, both of whom have long musical careers. Suspect Masanao Tatsugami is relative of Shinji for obvious reason, but no proof.

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria
Genre: Heavy Metal
Band members: Chavdar Ganchev - vocals/guitar, Deyan Ivanov - guitar, Alexander Kostov - bass, Biser Veselinov - drums. No exact matches for any of them on the site.
There are 2 songs on YouTube, "Yumruk v stenata" and "Nostalgiya". Release info unknown.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cN8OX_2wLdU

Делта Форс / Delta Fors: the song "Носталгия" was recorded during (or after?) autumn 1992.
The song "Юмрук в стената" was apparently recorded in 1993 and a third song, "Без изход" in 1994.

Like many other bulgarian bands, they only had single songs for radio/promotional purposes: the single cited on youtube doesn't exist, but it's common by that youtuber to create list singles or full albums gathering different recordings all together

Thanks for the link, BlackFlag. It doesn't sound too promising from what I heard, unfortunately (though only have a minute to listen right now). If you think it's metal enough, feel free to submit - but if you agree, I'll probably end up crossing them off the list.

Here is a site that can be used for research, suggested by user cmg92 (thanks!) with a band list from the Eksjö, Jönköping region of Sweden. It has already been helpful for one band in particular, offering information that couldn't be found elsewhere online, and there are apparently some metal bands not yet listed on the site that can be found here:

I had been on this band's trail some time before you posted it. I know of a person that claims to have the entire demo, whether he has it on cassette or not I don't know, and I might know of a few people who saw the band play live at some point, but my info on many of these underground bands from back then is dubious at best since they come from a ton of third-party sources. I can probably contact the guy asking him for the demo, but he has weird vibes, and tends to evade my questions often, so getting anything from him can be complicated.

In any case, IIRC there were a few cassettes for those recordings that were barely distributed, and I assume some of them were dubbed and shared around in the underground scene, thus why they can be found both in Soundcloud and YouTube uploaded by 2 different people, assuming they're not all the same recording uploaded thrice.

Thanks, Buried.
By any chance, have you asked around to some of the ex-members about the last 5 bands in this post, which are all from Buenos Aires?

Feel free to submit any if enough can be found. The music sounded promising, and some of the members are on Facebook. Just haven't gotten around to trying to contact yet.

Main list caught up ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I could possibly look around and see whether I find anything, but my sources aren't from Buenos Aires, and given that the province and the city are so massive it's quite complicated to find the right people, but I can look around.

Currently I barely have any free time to sit down and go back to research but once I'm free for at least a week or so (probably in March lol) I can try, although I'd imagine by that time you might have done that already. In any case you can send me a DM if you need specific help with anything or some quick research on something, I can possibly find some time to help out.

The review says it's pure death/thrash metal and it reaches the ideal climate? of both styles and if we trust it then I guess the band could be accepted.

Rock/Pop - Airquick
Spoiler: show
Location: Belgium
Genre: Hard Rock / Heavy Metal (?)
Band members: Bert Maekelberghe, Dirk Vermeulen, Gino Kesteloot, Guido Grymonprez, Jan Delbeke, Pol Claeys, Stephan Logie
- this 1979 compilation track sounds fairly promising: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asDIsc5P6_I
They released 7" singles in 1981 and 1982: "Bottle / "You're Not Alone" and "Suzanne" / "No Substitute". Though I could see them likely being more rock than metal (and are listed as rock), it might be worth a listen to see if they could be added to the site.
Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/artist/2750772-Airquick
(update - both records have been purchased)

Needs research. - Firststrike (a.k.a. Firststrike U.S.A. / First Strike)
Genre: Thrash Metal
Location: Santa Barbara, California (early); Arizona (later), United States
Band members (not sure which are still active, other than their new drummer) - Pauly Thomas, Scott Cummings, Nimar Silva, Christina Kelly, Steve Myers, Ruben Gonzales, Rick Mythiasin. New drummer: Matt Pimple. Some of these artists are in the database.
(while they have plenty of websites, I have yet to find a valid release. They mention re-recording and releasing music in the future, and have some really good-sounding recordings, new and old, in addition to a 1988 local Santa Barbara, California compilation appearance (w/ more than 6 bands). I tried sending a Facebook message and emailing today, to ask if they had a release).

- (update) - recorded a 5-song demo in 1989 that wasn't officially released. Have not made anything available for download, so they have no current release. Still an active band, so will keep this here as a reminder to occasionally check to see if they've released anything yet.

(Happy Saturnalia, everyone)
Some stuff written by this band was released by Christina Kelley in 2020 and 2022 under the moniker Renascense. I was going to add the new project but she gives credit to her old band for most of those songs (6 of 7, as far as I know), so I assumed they are covers.

Thanks, BlackFlag - same to you.
It seems like Renascense could be submitted, since Firststrike never bothered to release anything officially (which is a shame). They may have been written with that band, but so far this is the first time the songs have seen the light of day. In my opinion they could be submitted, and there could be a mention of it in additional notes that they were written during one of the members' time with Firstrike.
Was just wondering what your opinion is of the Toxia songs? I can cross them off the list if they're not metal. That's how it seemed from a couple minutes of listening, but maybe you've had a chance to hear them more thoroughly. Thanks for looking into these bands.

Needs research. - Catarsis / Catarzis
Location: Hungary
Genre: Metal (?)
Discography: Demo '95 (1 original song and 4 covers). Maybe they have something else out, though. Partial message (translated) from the person who posted it: "Metal-archives.com has nothing about the band."

@KingSpooky
Toxia is mostly Alternative/Nu-metal. In my opinion, they can be scratched off the list.

I'm submitting Renascence with that mention on the additional notes and a link to these posts.

Needs research. - Silver Fire
Needs research. - Stardriver
Spoiler: show
This 5-way split needs to be looked into. Is it just a YouTube release?

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... c0HX5Lo0RR

Two bands aren't listed:
- Silver Fire: https://www.facebook.com/SilverFireSpeedMetal
- Stardriver: https://www.instagram.com/stardriverr/

Spoiler: show
LA Siege have already published their tracks on Apple Music:
https://music.apple.com/vc/album/la-met ... 1640420758
Shouldn't be regarded as a valid two-track single, though, in my opinion.

It appears that Siege's convoluted discography is continuing with that YouTube stream/2-song download from the stream-only compilation. Of the 5 bands included, only their tracks are digitally downloadable. Have mentioned the songs in their bio/additional notes, as well as the other 2 bands on the site that were part of it. The other 2 bands can stay here as something to check back on later, but unless they have another release they can't be added at the moment.

Needs research. - Oddyssey
Location: Canada
Listed genre: Progressive Metal
Band members: Caroline Boucher - vocals
Martin Lefebvre - electric guitars, keyboards
Eric Beaudin - electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, backing vocals
Richard Bilodeau - bass
Nicolas Diab- drums, percussion - none seem to be on the site, unless Martin Lefebve is the drummer of the band Deafness - could find no indication that this is the case.
Discography: "Crimson Skies" EP (2007)

Needs research. - Shattered Earth
Location: 26 Duncan Avenue, Otley, West Yorkshire, UK
- their song "The Flame" was part of a 16-band, 17-song metal compilation tape made by Fight Zone 'zine in 1993, called "Death Zone". Only one other band, Violent Headache (blacklisted; "grind") from it isn't on the site. Every other band had a demo release that included their song(s) from the comp. There's a good chance they played metal, and put out a demo tape in 1992 or '93.
