This is a somewhat atypical example as it is basically the same dish as Rush. However, there is a clear flirtation with heavy metal on the first album (Sir Lord Baltimore / Judas Priest style), so I'll leave that up to you.

I re-checked and yes, it's heavy. The second album is almost as heavy. The third one is more of just light art rock (although there are a couple of cool moments in it).

Feel free to submit them along with the release that you believe to be most metal, and a link to where the release can be verified. From the description that you gave it sounds like something great to listen to soon.

Needs research. - PowerSpawn
Location: St. Louis, Missouri (?), US
Band members/discography: unknown
- just a band that I saw on a lot of 1994 St. Louis-area flyers. They played a show with Cannibal Corpse, Samael, and Grave, so it seems very likely they would have been established enough to have a demo out. They played with Cannibal Corpse in St. Louis again on a separate occasion that year. Other known St. Louis-area shows they played that year were with Morbid Death, Lunatic (Illinois), Vertical Ascension, and Conquers All (the latter 2 maybe also worth checking Google for).
The PowerSpawn logo is on this flyer: https://imgur.com/lEXAOhB

- let user Necrodictator know if something more is found.

I'm in contact with the band's bassist/vocalist, and he has confirmed to me that this demo has been released:

"This is the only thing that we released. I may have some live gig tapes about somewhere, but no idea if I'm honest."

I'm trying to get more info however I believe it might help Necrodictator to resubmit the band again.

Needs research. - Molten Steel
Location: Los Angeles, California, US
Genre: Heavy Metal
Band members: unknown, but one member's YouTube channel was named angelds1990.
Discography: Unknown, but 3 songs had been on their MySpace page around 2010/2011: "Force of the Knight", "Annihilator of the Damned", and "Reinforcements".
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Zombiepizza88/ ... en%20steel (someone uploaded those 3 songs here)
There's hardly any trace of them online now, at least from a few basic searches. The only potentially useful information on their MySpace page ( https://myspace.com/moltensteel ) is that a band local to them, Sakrificer ( https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sakrificer/88077 ) was on their top friends list, so some of their members should at least know who was in the band so that they can be asked about releases. Have sent them a message inquiring.

As you understand, it is almost impossible to find any of this (and only Yukhu is more or less known). A slight exception to this is "Crisis", which recorded a surprisingly high quality demo in 1993 that sounds like a decent AOR, though probably not metal enough to be considered, but here I don't know for sure https://vk.com/wall-37521370_24391 https://vk.com/music/playlist/-31719936_32438326

The database of the Russian Far East is located here: https://7775.ucoz.ru/index/dalnevostoch ... y_1_g/0-46

It's still incomplete, of course, and recordings of many bands are probably no longer to be found, but some interesting pieces of history are definitely there.

(added a link to this from the main list - 'Russian Far East database of bands' - thanks!)

I am planning a trip to Caucasus from October onwards.... let's see if it's possible to find some stuff

Needs research. - მეხის ქანდაკება (aka Mekhis Kandakeba aka Mekhis Qandakeba aka Thunder Statue)
Location: Telavi, Georgia
Listed genre: Heavy Metal / Hard Rock
Discography: "ლითონის კაცი" (reel-to-reel? 1993), "უხილავი კედელი" (reel-to-reel?, 9 tracks, 1996)

Quite a cult band in Georgia and there are a lot of information on the net (Wikipedia, blog sites and the band's official facebook). Unfortunately it's difficult to find the full albums. The quality seems varied: some songs are definitively metal, other are hard rock or ballads. Need more samples. It would be nice to get in touch with the band (their FB seems still active and updated) to ask if they ever released these albums onto some format (quite likely tapes for the second album). Not really sure about the 1996 album title: Wikipedia reports the title "უხილავი კედელი" but on the picture in the link below, above "Magnitnaya Lenta" there is written something else, while above the "A 4620 BR" it's just the band name written in georgian

There are several songs scattered on internet under all the band name's variations (მეხის ქანდაკება / Mekhis Kandakeba / Mekhis Qandakeba / Thunder Statue) but I can't listen to them as my soundboard is getting problems since a couple of days, anyway here's a couple of them but on youtube there are several more:

Probably the first Soviet band to start playing "modern" metal/hard rock, without all those 70's organ and keyboard rudiments (think about Judas Priest of Stained Class sample).

Went through many different stages - more in the article (easy to get confused, of course), but on an early demo they play real goddamned cool doom (I found even earlier bootlegs, but the quality is lousy).
A little later they became more hard rock, and finally punk rock. The earliest record I've found since the 1984 demo is a live one from 1994, and it sounds like traditional hard rock.

According to the band, they play hardcore punk:

Location: US (California?)
Genre: Heavy Metal
Band member: https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... lson/55260 (sent him a message on FB and got a response, but he didn't answer about release details - just said he's not fond of the music with this band and sent links to later bands.)
4-song 1993 demo uploaded to YouTube by a band member: https://www.youtube.com/@mike92592/sear ... in%20black

Needs research. - Delubrum

(Thanks for picking those two up, Azmod. Cheers.)

Genre: Heavy / Power Metal

https://heavymetalrarities.com/forum/vi ... 19&t=57577
https://heavymetalrarities.com/forum/vi ... 20&t=57551

Played decent power metal. The album is said to have been released on CD-R.

(additional info from Baldadeath) -
"Небо в огне" (which is a demo, according to their biography linked below) could have been recorded in 2005. The second album "Беседа со временем" was supposed to be released on Moon Records, but I guess both the demo and the album have been released for download only. Eduard Sukhodolov formed the group ЭСкандер after the end of Трилогия

Various romanian bands

In this article taken from a romanian magazine in 1994, there are a list of some unknown bands, mostly in the "rock section": I don't know if they are rock or metal as many of them are already listed on M-A, so I guess some of the missing bands could be also related to metal. There are also reviews and mention of demos/tapes already listed or mentioned on M-A which have not a picture yet. Iarmarock should be just hard rock or not metal (at least the newer few songs available on internet) but I list them for completeness

Needs research. - Oscilator

Listed genre: Grindcore/Death
Discography: Demo (Mid 90's)

one tape is here and it has its metal moments but I don't know if it's enough to include them. It is the split tape with Quo Vadis, not the above mentioned demo:

Bronx" (full lenght, 2017) and possibly more. It seems they are just rock'n'roll/sleaze/glam, but it would be interesting to access their early tapes to judge

Breakneck.... I have one rehearsal demo 1985, one single song studio demo 1985 and three rehearsal from 1985. If it's the same band, then they are related with Vice/The Kill. I got the master audios years ago when we were trying to work on a complete Vice/The Kill discography including all side project but I lost all the enclosed letters and notes. Anyway here's what I have at home, not sure if it's the same band, but they play just pure hardcore.

2) My car

2) My car

- Breakneck: Rehearsal 3 1985

Needs research? - Поющие сердца
Location: USSR (Moscow)
Listed genre: Hard Rock/Heavy Metal

https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9F%D0 ... 1%86%D0%B0

They acted as "Aria" from the beginning of 1986, not 1985, as it is stated everywhere.

Sort of like looking for Schrödinger's black cat in a dark room, but I think it should still be mentioned for the sake of form.

Apart from a few surviving demos from 1981-1983, they were supposed to have two demo tapes predating the release of "Megalomania" (the first is an instrumental) and there were people who said they once had them, but... so far none surviving no copy found.

Not going to add these bands to the list, but these 3 don't seem to be on the site (unless Northern Order is the NJ band, which I don't think it is but am not certain - and if they are, the comp. appearance can be added), and were on a recent compilation of mostly metal. They can be contacted if anyone feels like it, to see if they have any releases (Taranis (Italy), The Swedish Fornicator (Swe), Northern Order (US) - contact info found in the first link).

Krakpot were from San Francisco, California, originally called Crackpot, and had another tape with the 'Cr' spelling, track listing: You Give Me the Right/ Tacky/ Pitman Strut, which a drum machine was used on. The one in the photo is titled "The Rich Will Always Need Servants", tracklist unknown.

For sure Breakneck (the one with Jay Robohn involved) is 100% pure NYHC, they are not metal at all, not even crossover. Just pure NYHC.
As for Moral Decay, same story: just HC. At least in the only two rehearsal recordings I have - and I guess there's nothing else available. Anyway both bands have nothing to do with metal.
