The Edge tape (1983 copyright year above song titles) track listing:
Side A: Writing's on the Wall (3:20)
Crowd Control (3:10)
Side B: Nuclear Cowboy (2:20)
What Have We Got? (5:40)

Az, okay for me to stop adding bands to that secondary list?

Azmodes, regarding your list:
- Human Misery appears twice.
- Los Prinks are marked as being from Venezuela; they're from Bolivia.
- You should add a note for "Saquethrash" since it's likely they're the band "Saque" already on the site.
- Sistema de Tortura doesn't have VR Proof, but it has samples.
- Regarding Sonia Macchiavello, I have all the tracks off her CD, I just need to upload them. I'll have to talk to Sonia to know whether the release is valid or not.

Also, Ultratumba has been added to the site, so it can be removed from the list.

Contacted the uploader on Facebook. Hopefully he replies.

Regarding all the Argentinean bands on the list, I don't currently have much time to do research, but if I can get a concise list of the bands with any sort of contact info, I can use my free time and start contacting people left and right to get samples and/or release proof. All I need is a name.

Thanks! I'll correct those. Don't hesitate to post here if you find anything else or have other suggestions. The list is almost 6,000 bands long now; I tried to check for duplicates and such, but no doubt some of them still remain.

About Sistema de Tortura, I didn't see any samples in the post, but I guess you have them? Also noticed that the cassette pics are dead now.

4 songs are on YouTube, on my channel specifically.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... iPNmUqVtIE

There were no pics of the cassette, they were actually pics of something else but I can't recall what it was, but it resembled the cassette. Even with pics of the cassette, I still can't prove it was distributed.

I'm sorry, but this is probably a mistake. This list of Cuban bands has been wrongly attributed to me. These bands were in the list added by baldadeath and I only added some information. So it credit for baldadeth.
The exception is the band Venus (it is doubled in the list- Venus 2054, Venus 2870) because as written, if enough information to submit is found, please allow user BuriedUnborn to do so, who brought them up in here a while ago)

As for the band 01-Band (2463). In the notes there is a question "is this even a real band?".
Yes, absolutely. This trio took the name because :" We chose the Name The 01 Band because we were base in Hatton Cross west London, we had a rehearsal studio there and at the time all London phone Numbers Started with 01 ,hence all radio advert capitol radio local press had mention 01 in the adverts. A good way of free marketing and 01 was always in people heads via radio & press."

Some information about bands from Azerbaijan (slon1936 list)
I think these bands can be removed from the list.
There are many other bands to be removed, also from other lists (Nepal, Madagascar etc). I will try to send information and samples sometime, but it is very time consuming.

(178) Aerocobra (1990- 1991) - Heavy Metal. The group was a copy of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, with the difference that they sang in Russian. No official releases.
Guitarist Sergey in 1994 was convicted of the murder of his own grandmother.

(180) Charlie Atl (1989 – 1994) - progressive art rock

(203) Coldünya (1992 – 2009)- rock
Dyscography: Nota Bene (1996), Demo (1997), Məktub (2002), Oyanış (ft. Alim Qasımov) (2003), Əhatə Dairəsi Xaricində (2009)

(205) Industry (1994 – 1997)- Grunge

^Sure, will do.

I am now mostly done with importing the bands and various lists from the OP (if there are some bands that weren't properly linked, then I haven't checked for that). These lists and collections still remain to be added:

viewtopic.php?p=3073194#p3073194 Face Your Underground compilation series bands
viewtopic.php?p=3033183#p3033183 flyers etc
viewtopic.php?p=3016095#p3016095 Indiana, US bands 1980-1994
viewtopic.php?p=3043581#p3043581 Local Band Network - archived site, November 2005 / CDBaby store (archived)
viewtopic.php?p=3101701#p3101701 Old School Reclamation Project bands
https://forum.metal-archives.com/viewtopic.php?p=3008528#p3008528 Seattlemetal.com archived forum/band list DONE
viewtopic.php?p=3100193#p3100193 bands from magazine pics
https://thecorroseum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8006 Corroseum list (Estonia up to and including Georgia already done)

If anyone wants to bring those into a form suitable for database importing (i.e. CSV, one band per line, ideally formatted as <Name>, <Genre>, <Country>; or your choice of separators as long as it's consistent), have at it and email me the results. Thanks. Otherwise I'll tackle these eventually too.

Some more points:
  • As I've mentioned before, I have checked for duplicates via various scripts both within the list as well as in relation to listed bands (even taking alt. spellings into account), but some of the more generic names I left in there. Work in progress and feel free to help. Sometimes the Notes column mentions a band possibly already being on MA.
  • Various fields still need to be filled in (VR proof, samples, etc.) and the User column needs editing in some cases. I'll be slowly making my way through that.
  • Speaking of User, this just reflects who originally posted about the band in here. It's not strictly meant to represent someone having reserved researching or adding the band.
  • The list is being synced with my database server twice a day (4 AM and PM CET), so don't worry if an announced update here doesn't immediately show up.
  • As of now, there are 6,830 entries, so the table may start to act somewhat sluggish, especially on mobile devices. Maybe I should add pagination or alphabetical subpages. I'm not exactly a web designer, but we'll see.
  • Please report any errors, omissions or bands that should no longer be listed. I have set up email notifications for new posts in this thread and should be able to react to any new stuff farily quickly. Cheers.

One more thing, I would ask everyone to make a new post instead of updating existing posts/lists, since that way it's easier for me to keep track and update the big 'un. Or at least clearly specify which bands you added, complete with date/time tag. I only get notifications about new posts, not edits to existing ones.

Case in point:

Needs research. - No Rulz
Location: US (Illinois?)
Genre: Heavy Metal
Band members: https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/Tom_Peace/231092
- Matt Hussar (just the two of them and a drum machine)
Discography: 4-song demo tape (unknown whether or not released. Was put on YouTube for streaming by Tom's fellow Maniacal bandmate, Tannon Wraith, who is on Facebook and may be able to give further detail: https://www.facebook.com/tannon.wraith.3 )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bekTWPYZkqI

Needs research. - Sinner
Location: Wattenscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Genre: Heavy Metal
pre- https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Steeler/1854 . The 4-song 1982 demo was listed in their discography (with no legitimate artwork), but as the timeline shows they were still called Sinner then. Track listing and 3 members that weren't involved after the name change to Steeler are mentioned in bio/additional notes.

I marked the new bands I added by putting a date for the update and all the bands in the list after that. I should link the huge list to my other list which I haven't updated in a bit.

I also have over a dozen other bands to add to it, I just need to get down to that when I have the time.

Needs research. - Волжане
Location: USSR (Kazan), 1966-1987
Genre: Hard/Prog Rock (early), Heavy Metal/Hard/Prog Rock (later)
Band members (last lune-up):

Anatoly Kornilov - guitar,
Rashid Rafikov - guitar,
Evgeny Vaskov - bass guitar,
Ranis Shakirov - keyboards,
Oleg Kostitsyn - vocals
Discography: 1980 2-song live demo tape, 1983 live, 1984 studio 'Сломанная песня' tape (released 1985), live 1984

In the beginning they played typical hard rock with AOR tinge, but on their late live recording from 1984 they play very good metal 'n' hard, reminiscent of what "Avgust" would do years later.

Spooky, there is one band in the original list that I can't seem to find anywhere: The Sound Factory

It links to viewtopic.php?p=2971218#p2971218, but there is nothing about the band there. Neither is it listed, blacklisted or anywhere else in this thread (or the forum, for that matter).

I also noticed that this post isn't referenced in the original list. I suspect there might be few more orphaned posts? Not sure how best to check for those. Again, if anyone notices a band missing, let me know.

The count is now 7,129. :np: :headbang:

Two Cutter has been accepted, and can be removed from the list. Thanks.

The Sound Factory can be crossed off. Kind of weird and complicated what happened there, but that band Paris that it links to was originally listed as Vision, when I first heard about it mentioned by Tom Innamorato in an interview that was printed in a Warhead (NY) demo reissue. Drummer Carl Canedy said that the band was called Paris when asked about it, and that they recorded a tape or two, but nothing was released officially. At one point I was trying to find out more info about a different band called Vision on the site (US, state unknown), and they recorded their demo at The Sound Factory - so the studio name somehow ended up on the research list by mistake, probably through a copy-and-paste. I was able to verify from Carl that Vision on M.A. of unknown state is unrelated to their project.

Az, Baldadeath's post that you asked about - there is a note that I left at the bottom: "Baldadeath: have linked this post to your research list, accessible from the first post". So, there is a link to that post from Baldadeath's research list, accessible from the first post on the old list - but all of the bands in that post should be added to the new list, unless any are duplicates. I haven't kept track of Balda's research lists as well, as far as deleting duplicates or watching for bands that are added and can be removed, since those are very long lists.

Thanks for putting in all of that work in getting this stuff organized! That was a huge job. I'm sure less bands in here will end up completely buried with that more organized and visually pleasant version of the list.

P.S. - thanks, whoever decided to give me a new title in the forum, haha.

Excellent, list updated. Now everything should be properly linked.

i read: Wild Witch was a female-fronted heavy metal band that recorded a 4-song demo in May 1988, with the track listing: Come on Rock/ Welcome/ Teufelswahn/ Danger of Death.

so why Is added like a non-metal band/band without release?
maybe some additional info needed?

It's confirmed that they recorded the demo and that the tape exists. The last piece left with Wild Witch is to find out if it had been released. It's a hand-written j-card, so something more about distribution would be great for that one.

just a question (I don't even know if this is the proper section):

how to categorize this Ep here?

On the comment by the uploader it is describes as a "pirate album" but, in fact, it's just his rancorous position against a Luzbel line-up without Arturo Huizar in it.
I think I haven't found any consistent proof about a possible unauthorized release: on the contrary it seems fully official. But I don't know how to categorize it: if within Luzbel discography or under "Luzbel Huizar" new page. On discogs it's called LVzbel but clearly on the cover it's written LUzbel. Maybe it's the case of a separate page? Anyway they are old Luzbel / Lvzbel / Huizar songs re-recorded in 2017 with new line up.... so I don't know...

Needs research. - Seagrave
Location: Sweden
Listed genre: Heavy/Thrash/Stoner Metal
Discography: "Promo 1998" demo/promo-tape (1998)

Lineup:
Ludwig Witt - Drums, Percussion (Grand Magus, Spiritual Beggars, etc.)
Fredrik Finnander - Lead Guitar
Spice - Vocals, Bass (Grand Magus, Spiritual Beggars, etc.)
Evil - Vocals, Guitar

This was submitted by user Death_Vomit and it seems to be metal, however despite the verified existence of the tape, I'm not sure if this was ever publicly released. Needs some confirmation for that.

I appreciated the opportunity to do work as a moderator and hope that it's helped this project. Can honestly say that I gave this my all for the last few years, and was grateful to have something worthwhile to invest a lot of time in through the pandemic. It was cool to get to know the people that I talked to on here also. Awesome that there is such a committed group to this cause. Well, with some things coming up and others that I've been putting off too long, I have to focus all of my energy elsewhere and I bow out with full respects to the people that are doing this every day, continuing to develop a resource used by countless metal fans. It was an honor to be a part of it for a while.

Hello,
Fortunately I was able to delay this for a few months and finish up some projects around the site, but my final contributions will be made this week - typing out lyrics for 10 more releases (lyrics thread nearly complete now - there are just 3 that I didn't pick up). Work hours are increasing a lot this week and in the foreseeable future, and it's come time to move forward with some plans and projects that have been on the backburner for (literally) years. The moderators know how to reach me (through email), if there's a specific question that I might be able to help out with. Wish you guys all the best, and thanks for having me as part of the team. Cheers.
