Active in and around 1984. Played some shows in Guernsey. Unknown if there's a demo.

Sounds like that's "Neon Town" from the 7''? I found the rest of the release on Slsk and it seems fine to submit as NWOBHM.

Found another band that isn't in the list. I've been searching for info about this one for about 2 years and got nearly nothing.
Here's everything I have:

Band: EXO/Эхо (the name appears both ways)
Location: St. Petersburg, Russia
Genre: Melodic Death/Power Metal (in the vein of Children Of Bodom)

Came across this band 2 years ago on Youtube. Found this video of a studio recording of a metal cover of the song Freestyler, originally by Bomfunk, and immediately recognized that it was wrongly labeled as a cover by Children Of Bodom. I know the band too well and I can guarantee you this is not Alexi singing. Going through the comments I got the answer I was looking for: it's a russian band called EXO or Эхо. By the way, you need to search for the comments that say this and they're mainly in russian, because the majority is just people being "omg never heard this song by bodom ahaha so funny!". Hate misinformation.

After a bit more of research I found another video, this time live footage of the same song. That confirms that 1)this was a real band 2)it's nor bodom. Also managed to get some info on the comments and even some obscure answers, transcribed and translated below:

- "This is not Children of Bodom, its EXO. Its on The Falling" (Tried to get more info, never got an answer. What's "The Falling"? An album? Some compilation?)

- "As I know that's Russian band "Эхо" "

- "Not Children of Bodom, EXO from Russia ... please fix the tags and the title ... /watch?v=Df_LopwLrts" (11 years ago comment, the youtube link that could save this chaos doesnt work...)

- "EXO SPb 2004 approx."

- "In 2002-2003 there were already concerts..."

- "this was my first year at university... I was making good money back then from pictures for the newly launched gprs... and spent 3-4 days a week in bars/clubs where they played live... we definitely drank with the guys... the vocalist then introduced himself as yau...yau..."

- "This is the St. Petersburg group EXO. I used to play guitar there once. Today the group does not exist (and for quite some time). The cover was obviously done for fun - one of a dozen songs. Threat, the rumor about the children, who knows where it came from - apparently someone was very imbued with the “humor” with the children’s “yau-yau” and decided that it was the bodoms themselves." (best comment with good info, thanks random guy)

So by the comments we know that the band has already disbanded, was active sometime around 2002-2004 and, most important, there were more songs. I don't know about you, but I don't believe these songs were all covers. A band specializing themselves in making covers in the style of bodom sounds too specific. Also we know that the band made a show with the russian band Atomica (https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Atomica/42087), note the logo in the back of the show on the Youtube video.

So if someone finds an album or demo of physical release of the band, even the logo, it would help a lot. Already checked my usual info sources and couldn't find anything. Nothing on Myspace, ReverbNation, Spotify, AudioDB, Discogs, etc... Only these 2 videos and the comments.

Youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ddZ-lNQ6Sw (studio version, wrongly labeled bodom)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpegWL6CWlE&t=6s (live footage of the band playing the same song)

Thanks! Didn't know about those, listening to the songs now.
The songs available from the band are a mix of melodeath, progressive, death and heavy metal. One of them even resembles Finntroll. Looks like they made a lot of experiments in their songs.

And someone commented this in their page in 2017 (long after they released these songs):
"Well done guys, you left your mark on history! The album "Fall" is wonderful, especially the "social survey"
So after all there's an album. We "only" need to find it. And the version(s) in the site have a lower production comparing to the youtube one, so probably the album have better sound quality.

And also the site has the names of the band members.

The Agonya song is pretty borderline. Kinda rock, kinda heavy metal. Unfortunately the tape has some damage and the sound gets comically distorted around the middle of this song through the rest of side A. Not sure if they're worth keeping on the list though. Let me know what you think so I can update my original post one way or the other.

I actually bought the 'Looking' demo and digitized it here. It's death/thrash with some hardcore moments. Pretty good stuff too. Since there is an Indastria from Italy on the blacklist I'm going to go shoot my shot on the band appeals board after I post this. Indastria can be removed from the list though.

I have the feeling that those 2 Indastria are the same band: all the recording studios where they recorded their tapes/CD are all quite close each other, despite in different town in the same region. And almost in the same years.

I compared the lineup on the tape I received to the pictures for those two CDs on Discogs, and the vocalist Bonfi is on all three. So, definitely the same band.

Yeah, for those 3 releases I was quite sure as those recording studios are really close each other.

Need to establish a connection with this other Indastria:

https://www.discogs.com/it/release/1177 ... M0Nzc4OTk=

Who recorded their tape in 1997 (same year of the "Looking" demo 1997). The recording studio in Modena is also very close to the area of activity of the "other" Indastria, less than 40-50 minutes far, in the same region.

These bands linked to the Russian band database are likely the same ones that are already on the research list (the name appears twice):

Роза Ветров

It may be useful for Krister Jensen or someone else familiar with Cyrillic letters to check for other possible duplicates, as some other band names are close but not listed exactly the same.

Okay, that's it for a while. Thanks for all of the list updates, Azmodes.

1) Аверс = two bands existed with this name. One active in the late 80's from Ossetia who released a "mini album" in 1990 (unknown format, recorded in Moscow):

=Sergey Burmistov (Бурмистров Сергей) - Vocals
=Fedor Bozhedomov (Божедомов Федор) - Bass
=Sergey Mokhov (Мохов Сергей) - Keyboards
=Aleksandr Landyishev (Александр Ландышев) - Guitars
=Nikolay Gladyishev (Гладышев Николай) - Guitars
=Demosfen Popandopulos (Попандопулос Демосфен) - Drums

+ lot of other members coming and going, anyway there's a full bio here:

No info about the other Avers mentioned.

2) Мистерия: there's one band whose name before was "Мистерия Буфф" (Misteriya Bluff, playing 70's hard rock and releasing a couple of reel-to-reel albums in 1986 and 1988) then shortened to Misteriya in 1990 (playing "disco rock'n'roll" ??!!). They recorded the album "Послушайте" in 1999 bit it's unclear whether they released it under the shortened name or the new name (the photo in the link can be just a random one):

http://metalrus.ru/forum/index.php?topic=913
http://metalrus.ru/groups/816

Unknown whether there are more bands with the same name

http://metalrus.ru/forum/index.php?topic=913

3) Монолит

There are two bands known with this name already listed on M-A.

Additionaly there is another Монолит from Shosta (Ukraine), hard rock formed in 2004. No other info known:

http://metalrus.ru/forum/index.php?topic=6932

4) Altera: all the download links for the two tape albums ("Pressure", 1996 and "Emptyfaces" 1999) are broken. There's a full live concert here:

There are several examples all around the world. Consider that even the hard rock band Iris from Romania also released 3 albums with no title.

Anyway, Indastria has no meaning at all in italian. To me it sounds even more strange that two bands choose a completely meaningless name in the same year and a few minutes far each other, recording in music studios which are located few minutes far each other and both having a musical style that it's not clearly defined, ranging from thrash-death to industrial to post-rock....

Indastria

Ok, info found.

There are 3 (!) indastria almost from the same geographical area:

1) Indastria from Bologna....

http://web.tiscali.it/sigfrido/indastria/info.htm

2) Indastria (aka Indhastria) from Carpi (60 km west from Bologna), born in 1996, (formerly?) led by Simone Setti (the producer of the tape 1997):

3) Indastria from Piombino Dese, (near Padua, north of Bologna) born in 2008.

Well, to be a totally meaningless name, it's curious to find 3 omonimous bands from the north of Italy with the same monicker

Vengeance (ID 9568) and Vengeance (ID 2793) are the same band.
Both are described as Guernsey bands and both have links to photos. It's the same band in these photos.
Unless it was about that Vengeance from Cornwall (ex Tower- no demos). They gigged in Cornwall from around 1980 to 1983, recorded one demo in 1982 (So many times, Streetfighter, Fever over you - I think it will be released later this year). (top of the photo)
Or about Vengeance linked to L.A. Hooker and Atlantis (bottom of photo). I'm not sure if their recordings have been officially released..
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/At ... 3540509582
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/L.A._Hooker/73159

Or about yet another.

Thanks. Vengeance listed as being from the UK (ID 2793) can be removed from the list. It's been deleted from that location.

Found another band that isn't in the list. I've been searching for info about this one for about 2 years and got nearly nothing.
Here's everything I have:

Band: EXO/Эхо (the name appears both ways)
Location: St. Petersburg, Russia
Genre: Melodic Death/Power Metal (in the vein of Children Of Bodom)

https://www.realrocks.ru/exomuz/

https://www.realrocks.ru/exomuz/music/

Ok, this was easier than I thought. Just found the album with all tracks available to download AND album cover. And a LastFM profile.
Looks like all I needed to do was to start searching the song names in russian lol.

Can I submit the band now? The album is a mix of death, progressive melodeath, heavy and that freestyler cover.
My only doubt is that in the first link the album has 12 songs, all available, but in LastFM the album has 16 songs, yet only one is available... Some of those are available in their site, but not all. There's an album for sure and the songs are available, the question is wich ones are actually in it. The songs order seems consistent tho.

It looks like the most acceptable info are for a 15 or 16-songs album:

https://baike.baidu.com/item/EXO/15852142

https://baike.baidu.com/reference/15852 ... YY58K_nnVg

The band also had a VK page and another link: both do not work anymore:

https://vk.com/club704795
http://morthmetal.nm.ru/exo/history/index.htm

Moreover, it is unknown whether the real band name is Ехо (which is written in cyrillic, transcribed as Ekho, russian for Echo) or Эхо (where the Э - E with acute accent - replaces the simple Е without accent) because making researches for song titles, it may happen to find the band name written in both variants. Anyway, "Ехо" seems the most recurrent variant.

Except for the VK page - never updated or with contents deleted - and scattered songs here and there, no trace of them on VK nor useful links or mentions at all

KingSpooky, I apologize if my earlier information was inaccurate and misled you. 454 did some great demo songs, but they weren't officially released. So I don't think this band will be useful for MA

EXO/Эхо

dinosaurs_can_fly - if you have all the information you need, feel free.

BTW.
Are such releases acceptable in MA?

Thanks for clarifying. 454 should be removed.

Regarding Purgatory (Finland), from the Facebook page that TheStealthK linked which shows a picture of their "The Maid" tape and a live video, as well as an unreleased cassette ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/150972124927219/ ), here are the band members (none of which are on the site from other bands):
https://www.facebook.com/heikki.heino (sent a message today asking if the songs can be heard online, and will post here if there's a response).

Thanks so much for the additional info and help with the research. The name being so short, plus the variants, definitely doesn't help finding info.
