Took a little examination for my last list.

A-side of Token Debt found and it sounds more like hard rock. However, in Gripsweat it's mentioned both songs "begin as power ballads and get more rocking in the middle". Maybe not worth pursuing.

http://www.freakbeatrecords.com/ebay_audio/token.mp3
https://gripsweat.com/item/275702162683 ... ivate-hear

Found all Sweetcheater's EP tracks played live and it sounds more promising. Still not sure if it would make it but I'll leave those tracks here.

Lucifer Mop can be removed - description from Corrosium's "German metal" -section: "A privately pressed 7" is the band's only remnant it seems, featuring the songs "Smokin" and "Low Down Blues", that both are stylistically equivalent and offer common, handmade Hard Rock with bluesy touch, but without highlights."

https://thecorroseum.org/features/germa ... php?char=L

Screamer - some kind of post-punk, far from metal anyways.

That isn't the blacklisted Cutthroat, just to verify. The one from Florida is.

- not the same band by this name whose song "Everchanging Mind" is on the 1985 "No Substitute for Steel" compilation (a song that isn't metal, and whose 3-piece lineup was checked to be sure it's a different band).

Jonah (Jersey) can be removed. Zygmunt sent files, and both songs are rock.

Toxin songwriting credits (probably band members): G. Bell, J. Gibson, Z. Jones, B. Relan.

Sweetcheater (Alabama) - live audio found, but no time to listen right now.

De De Troit - California band with at least 2 Ohio natives. Not metal, should be removed.

Cut Throat (New Jersey) - former member Chuck Spinner makes some references to the band on a forum. His profile is here:
https://wfmu.org/profile/808720722/MrStrimbus

Medussa (Pennsylvania) - Joyce's last name is Barnhurst more recently.

Twin-Wire / Twin Wire - probably not worth keeping around.
https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm ... story.html
"Another local heavy metal upstart, Twin Wire borrows freely from the bold, bluesy sound of veterans like ZZ Top. They do it pretty well, even though the vocals are, at best, passable and the production could use a little polish."

According to the "Heroes of the Metal Underground" book, Zeus (East Norristown, Pennsylvania - https://www.discogs.com/release/9763476 ... na-Rock-It ) are "fun-to-listen-to glam metal". Doesn't sound promising.

Regarding Screamer (Flushing, New York) - the B-side is worth getting evaluated in my opinion. Really good song, and is heavy metal to my ears, even if the A-side "Run Jackie Run" isn't.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJG5TWK4Y_k
Reminds me of the UK band White Spirit.

Everyone's Daughter - according to a couple of sources they have a female vocalist.
This Bellview, Florida band was active around the same time. Either the same, or not to be confused with: https://myspace.com/everyonesdaughter

Sweetcheater (US) and Screamer (New York, US) should be submitted, since there's a valid release and audio for each, and it's meant to be evaluated there rather than in this thread.

Ziwak - based out of Connecticut. Some of their former members are on Facebook. One or more of them later played in Chain Reaction, which may have just been a cover band.
https://www.facebook.com/ziwaks/
https://www.facebook.com/mark.meyerholz
https://www.facebook.com/domenic.demonico.3

Tempered Steel - the band that released the tape "Forging the Blade" still lacks details and more samples. There was one obscure band called Tempered Steel in Connecticut from that era, and one of their members was: https://www.facebook.com/chris.albert.10004694 . Could be the same band.

Straight from the Kids - Not sure if that's the name of the band. It might be a label or organization that released music.
Contact info for the guitarist on the record: https://www.facebook.com/captainkirkdouglas
From around the same time period and also in Long Island, there's mention of a Straight from the Kids compilation here: https://cutsupreme.bandcamp.com/album/r ... w-tuff-jam . So, it could be an unnamed collaboration as far as the actual band name goes.

Ten City - they played a gig with https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Atrophy/647 and some band called "Sharp Rains" in 1988. Going to ask someone that is likely to know more about both of those bands.

BlackSwan - b-side of the tape has contact information for Barry Jordan of Woodstock, Georgia, possibly this person who would have been in their late 20s at the time the tape came out:
https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituar ... n-10835753

Seïsm
Described as thrash: https://www.dotf.fr/viewtopic.php?t=32765&start=1100
- and by the same person, Metal Archives forum user 'jamz':
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65462&hilit=Vibraphone&start=28360 (includes cover art)
Maybe they'd be willing to help out with samples.
Members:
Didier Lorang (vocals, guitars)
David Mancini (guitars)
Laurent Gendre (drums - doubtful that it's https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... dre/225479)
Jean-Paul Thesi (bass)

69 Slam - member Scott Duncan also played in other Wichita, Kansas bands Trinity, Critical Mass, MJ Project, and The Dark (the latter having https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... lls/714642 in its line-up). His photography website has a place where you can contact him: https://www.rscottduncanphotography.com

Needs research. - Tsam (查玛乐队 / 查玛)
Location: Hohhot, Inner Mongolia (China)
Listed genre: Hard Rock / Heavy Metal?
Discography: "Hun Baigal / 萬物人生" CD (year unknown), "Tsam" CD (2006, 6 songs)
CD for sale: https://image.baidu.com/search/detail?c ... 5370676593

As usual with bands coming from Mongolia or Inner Mongolia, there is absolutely no info at all (I came across several other Hurd releases totally unknown to the external world, too)...they should come from Hohhot as they played in a bar that I've been several times.

I tried to ask my brother who lives there if he knows more as his housemate is a rock producer, let's see

There are few videos here, the ones around 2018 seem to be a mix of hard rock and heavy metal but the audio quality is terrible:

https://weibo.com/u/2650741232

More recent videos from 2019 (including the only one on YT) sound more hard rock but it seems the 2018 videos sound a little bit more interesting.

Thanx to my bro I could find the tracklist for the 2nd album, "Tsam" (the other one, "Hun Baigal / 萬物人生" still remains unknown):

01 - Zuud
02 - Nogoon
03 - Ergej Harmargvi
04 - Harsal
05 - Shar Shovoo
06 - Shargchin

The songs were uploaded on QQ Music and it's possible to listen to them (but not to download them). Anyway, it's impossible to register to it without a chinese phone number and a Wechat account

My brother confirmed that they are metal as he saw them a couple of times at the Mongolian Pub in Hohhot. In the next days he will meet with the drummer of Suld and he's going to ask him whether he can find more info

Needs research. - Section 8
Location: Chicago, Illinois, US
Listed genre: Power Metal
Members: https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... ace/384754 (guitars, vocals)
Ricky Rolon (guitars, backing vocals) - was later in ROYAL FLUSH
Vincent Shin (percussion)
Beau Carbonneau (bass, backing vocals) - was later in ROYAL FLUSH
Discography: "The Time Has Come" CD (1997)
Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/release/1202592 ... e-Has-Come
- this was incorrectly placed into the discography of a thrash/death metal band that were also from Illinois, and that entry needs to be deleted.
https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/S ... ome/716858
They were active from 1993 to 2001.
Best bet if nothing is found through basic searches would probably be to contact Greg, who is playing metal nowadays:
http://www.gregbrace.com/
Discogs also has a couple for sale, but the price is a bit steep.

Needs research. - Raven Mad
Location: San Diego, California, US
Known members: Bo West (bass - R.I.P. Nov. 13th, 2017) - https://www.facebook.com/bo.west.94 . He also played in Shortleash and Zaxxon, the latter with Hugh Muncie).
https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/Mick_Perez/56787 (guitars - https://www.facebook.com/MickPerezRealtor )
Reuben Warner (vocals)
Marty (drums - also played in Zaxxon with Hugh Muncie)
Dan Colquit (guitars) - https://www.facebook.com/dan.colquitt.5
This is Dan's SoundCloud page, where a Raven Mad song, "Search for Signs" can be streamed: https://soundcloud.com/macdano-1/search ... -raven-mad - this song is on the 1985 "No Substitute for Steel" compilation LP:
https://thecorroseum.org/comps/nosubstitute.php
https://www.discogs.com/artist/3291359-Raven-Mad
- Would like to find out if they released a demo. This is a great heavy metal song. Was able to confirm that they played gigs, so fairly likely that it wasn't just a one-off song recording but a full band that may have had more original material.
Logo here: https://imgur.com/a/B5iIXiJ

Not to be confused with the Long Beach, California band Raven Mad that are on the site, formed in 1998.
https://www.facebook.com/profile/100064 ... aven%20mad

Added. - Jackal
Spoiler: show
Location: San Diego, California, US
Genre: Heavy/Power Metal
- band was originally called Wrathchild (one of their gigs under that name was in 1982)
Members: Darrel Knox (guitars - R.I.P.), https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... ie/1010710 (guitars). Neither of them are pictured here: https://imgur.com/a/jACiDNX
The pictured lineup is: Ron Tanaka (guitar), Flod Abreu (bass), Christopher Henry Munoz (vocals - paroled from prison for a murder that ended the band in the mid-'80s), Doug Ramstad (drums), Greg Wheatley (guitar), and Darryl Knox.
Their song "Hidden in Gold" is on the "No Substitute for Steel" 1985 compilation.
https://thecorroseum.org/comps/nosubstitute.php
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5MWFaFnUKI
- wondering if they released a demo. Not to be confused with the San Francisco, California band with the same spelling that are on the site, or the hard rock band Jackyl.

Is it possible that the Hamadryad in the V1 list is a misspelling of Hamadryade? This band was added in 2004 under the name Dryade, but operated under Hamadryade from 1995 to 2000. Alternatively, it could be the canadian band, as it's described as metal or having metal elements from time to time. Not sure how strict the site was back then, but I could see this as an oversight addition like King's X. Otherwise, there's no band on discogs with a name close, and considering this is from 2017, it might be time to remove it unless other info comes to light.

I guess this post also serves as a question to the status of the V1 list. Has it been gone through thoroughly or not?

It would be safe to remove Hamadryad in my opinion, since it probably is referring to Hamadryade (France), and Hamadryad is a prog rock band. There were other similar errors in band names on that v1 research list (Yellow Machineguns instead of Yellow Machinegun, Tortured Dogs instead of Tortured Dog.. "Korgus (South America)" that is listed is likely Brazil's "Korzus". In general, there were more little mistakes like that which were corrected throughout this site and others since way back when that list was created.
I went through the remaining bands on it recently and found some more info on a few: viewtopic.php?p=3117747#p3117747 (2 posts here)

Released one 7 inch single in 1980 entitled "Warrior Women" / "Last Chance". AZ recommended finding the A-side for further consideration, so if anyone could help, that'd be fantastic!

Here is 1:48 (almost half) of the song. Should be enough to make a decision. https://www.popsike.com/Frenzy-Warrior- ... 70009.html

Needs research. - Averno
Location: Zaragoza, Spain
Genre: Heavy Metal (?)
Known band members:
https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... las/694995 (vocals)

Not the one already in. Said to have a live album released in 2001 or 2002, which might be this one:
https://www.discogs.com/release/1542892 ... to-Cerbuna

Found this rehearsal version of one of its songs, but it is a power ballad:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTfv1PnRZcM

The band split in 2002. The video belongs to a 2008 reunion.

Regarding Acariasis' Valid Release status, what about the cassette requires further research? It looks of poor craftsmanship but the wording and copy limit indicate it was still distributed validly.

You could try submitting it if you want to. It might be fine. Part of the hesitation was that there's only one owner on Discogs, and a zero-effort packaging value like that can sometimes make moderators skeptical about its legitimacy without a little something more to back up the fact that it's not the creation of a troll. It might be deemed acceptable as is if nothing more can be found.

The fact that they were on this compilation should help: https://www.discogs.com/release/3314939 ... roject-001

I guess that raises the question of how often that happens. I get new/faker bands doing that but a band from 1997 with full samples online? Makes me think it was just a rare find that was luckily found by someone with an archival mindset. I'd like an official go-ahead before submitting because I don't want to submit bands willy-nilly and waste time. I did a bit of a search for the band and couldn't find much else besides an archived magazine naming the band and label.

For the record, I messaged the sole owner of Discogs, but he never responded. Of course, this is not a confirmation of anything.

No Place to Hide is likely the listed band Noplacetohide. The Neseblod lists the demo as being from Norway, and their original demo looks like a S/T demo.

Someone uploaded the 1990 demo tracks of Czech band 'Vzteklej dědek'. 2/3 Sound metal, and I'm assuming that the demo was only three tracks. The band also has a discogs page, but no entry for the demos.

Nothing known beside this photo and the music style

Trying to find more of this band. May just buy the demo tape and rip it for proof of metalness.

Went ahead and submitted Acariasis. I think there's enough info with the comp and tape to get them added.

Back on the canada list:

Screaming At Shadows: Borderline Metalcore, if someone wants to submit this, go ahead. Too hardcore for me.
https://screamingatshadows.bandcamp.com ... of-sinners

Searching for Satellites: Easy Pass. Unacceptable metalcore/post-hardcore/alt rock
https://searchingforsatellites.bandcamp ... hellhounds

Seeded Among Seven Hills: Melodic Death metal, but with only one single on bandcamp from their demo. The other two tracks from the demo are streaming only on soundcloud. So no VR.
https://seededamongsevenhills.bandcamp. ... ouve-built
https://soundcloud.com/seeded-among-seven-hills
https://www.reverbnation.com/seededamongsevenhills

Seize the Moment: Unacceptable chugcore.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pv8Cbd3 ... Tp&index=2

Shark Infested Daughters: Later material sounds like unacceptable core/alt rock, but their first EP might be enough to get them added.
https://sharkinfesteddaughters.bandcamp ... he-dead-ep

Shurikens & Shotguns: Sounds like borderline, leaning towards unacceptable metalcore/hardcore. Besides that, it looks like they don't have any VR.
https://www.youtube.com/@ShurikensAndShotguns

Signifier: Electronic/Progressive/Djent/Post-hardcore... whatever. Not metal.
https://signifiermusic.bandcamp.com/album/rebirth

Sigrune: Black metal, will add.
https://sigruneofficial.bandcamp.com/al ... n-of-decay

Silent Tragedy: Short-lived, looks to be live only. No VR. Described as deathcore/djent, so more than likely not metal anyway.
https://www.facebook.com/SilentTragedyBand/

Sinthetik: Metal at times, djenty chuggy core at others. Not overwhelmingly metal.

Sixguns Over Tombstone: already on here...
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Si ... 3540268052

Skies Beneath: "Experimental Prog Metal" which is pretty chuggy. Second EP much more metal than their first. Will add.
https://skiesbeneath.bandcamp.com/album/ep-ii

SKROU: No. Hard Rock.
https://www.youtube.com/@SKROUROCKS/featured

Solace: Djent/Hardcore
https://solacecanada.bandcamp.com/album/call-response

Something You Whisper: Post-Hardcore/Alt Rock. Large discography if someone wants a deeper look, but it's probably not worth it.
https://music.apple.com/us/album/someth ... 1504668455
https://www.discogs.com/artist/5477494- ... ou-Whisper

South Sea Strategy: Dead facebook. One track for download on soundcloud. No VR then.
https://soundcloud.com/southseastrategy

Southern Krown: Dead facebook, and a lot of searches just turn up companies in Oshawa. Live performance sounds like groove metal/rock. Apparently only recorded rough demos as proof of concept and never had a VR.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=tmSOMeCmGEk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hiif3YnUbtI

Stormwalker: Progressive Hardcore is right. No VR either.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgtRsGhF2j4

Suppressulant: Punky Grindcore/Hardcore/Powerviolence
https://suppressulant.bandcamp.com/album/self-titled-ep

Surefire Machine: Rock.
https://music.apple.com/us/album/surefi ... /325487698

System Shit: Noisecore
