Needs more samples - Kaptin Krunch

They have a VR on ebay. There's a live set there on youtube but it wasn't good enough quality to be assessed. Needs serious samples. Maybe the eBay seller could be messaged to record some samples or (if still for sale, forgot to check) the release could be bought.

Edit: Dont bother messaging the eBay seller asking for samples. I don't know why every single person who sells rare tapes on eBay is an asshole, but this guy is no exception.

Private often just means it was self-released as opposed to on a label.

Info about the following bands is sourced from the Headbangers encyclopedia. Can provide a photo if needed at any point.

Needs research. - Angeldust / Angel Dust
Location: Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany
Genre: Heavy Metal
- original name of https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Asmodina/11071 . According to the Headbangers encyclopedia they did one demo as Angel Dust (two separate words in the book, one word on the site) prior to the name change.
According to a reissue bio, "Tower of Vengeance" (1985 - https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/A ... ance/24529 ) was done after the name change: https://www.discogs.com/release/2708433 ... Headbanger
However, according to the bass player and drummer's bios on the 'Atreus' band page, that demo was done as Angeldust, and the Asmodina name change didn't occur until 1986. http://atreus-music.de/ENG/vita-ralf.htm / http://atreus-music.de/ENG/vita-matze.htm
- '80s 'zine articles that also put the name change at 1986, and "Tower of Vengeance" demo prior to the name change:
https://thecorroseum.org/fanzines/hardcore_power-02.php
https://imgur.com/a/Wqt2Gjh
(If not for conflicting and probably incorrect information on the reissue, fine to submit. Could use some additional verification from a member, if possible.)

Needs research. - Angels of Mercy
Location: Norwalk, Connecticut, US
Genre: Heavy metal and/or hard rock
Discography: Demo 1987

Needs research. - April Fools
Location: Londonderry, N. Ireland, UK
Genre: Heavy metal and/or hard rock

By the way, I saw my username wasn't in Green on the list. It can be made green. If anyone finds samples of this band they can go ahead and add it, I don't need to have dibs on it. Same will be true for any bands I put in here. Thanks!

Got samples for Quadrenial Punish and one of the Meadow tapes. Will assess metalness but it isn't looking good for Quadrenial Punish. Grindcore that sounds like a proto-Phyllomedusa.

Point Blank (1539): This is on here for needing VR proof. I spoke with the band and gotten confirmation of the existence of a CD, and that the entire downloadable tracklist on reverb is that album. Problem is, this sounds more rooted in borderline hardcore to my ears.
https://www.reverbnation.com/pointblank1993/songs

Sistema de Tortura: Blog post here with details, mentions the live demo cassette and band logo.
http://concordiabandas.blogspot.com/201 ... metal.html

Excelsior (denmark): More info from video: "All ripped from cassettes. Not that much to tell, the guitarist Bjørnar left the group and joined Pyorrhoea. The trio went on for another year without recording anything. Vocalist died in 2022"

Conquistador (10471): according to the channel that uploaded the album, "Unfortunately, it was not released as a music album!"

Damnged: Per the uploader, "They had a few demo CDs made. I have one floating around the house somewhere lol. But no, they never had any mass produced."

Exxecutor: Asked if this was for sale, response was, "No not yet, but I’m planning to sell it somewhere."

Fight The Fight Project: No VR, reply I got on the video was, "No, it was a short-lived event. Basically a continuation of the Dutch hard rock band Stash, but with a neo-classical approach a la Yngwie Malmsteen."

Needs research. - Berlin
Location: UK
Genre: NWOBHM/Hard Rock
- (photo) - https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php? ... 6483620043
- (not positive that this is the same band) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smPn_oBnTPM
The Headbangers encyclopedia has information about a Portsmouth, UK band that released a 5-song demo in 1984. Lineup: Mark Shires (guitars), Jon Shires (guitars), Wayne Coates (vocals), Derek Pratt (bass), Mike Gordon (drums). Again, uncertain that this is information is all for the same Berlin.
- seeking audio, verification that the '84 demo mentioned above is for this band.

Needs research. - Ezekial
Location: Buffalo, New York, US
Genre: Heavy Metal/Hard Rock
Members: Chris Dimmick - Lead Vocals
Steve Tizz - Guitar, Vocals
Rich Nicholas - Bass
Rich Tucker - Guitar
Jamie Z - Drums, Vocals
Jon White - Drums
(other members are documented in the ReverbNation bio)
ReverbNation: https://www.reverbnation.com/ezekial (the songs here are probably from their "Unforgiven" CD (2011), probably considered more rock than metal and likely what was assessed when they got blacklisted. ReverbNation bio mentions "released a 4 song EP on the BCMK label in 1983", and "recorded and released a 9 song cassette in 1985". Could be worth looking into those earlier releases.

- info from 'Headbangers' encyclopedia. No mention of a release, but there may have been.

Sneguljčica: The eastern bloc video mentions the single was unreleased. I'd comment on the other channel but youtube has marked them all as children's videos. Cannot comment.

Silent Tears: Spoke with band. No Demo/CD/EP/Album. Band is on break for now.

Needs research. - Revenge (Perth)
- from the same 'zine, about Revenge: "young four-piece.." "Delivering a powerful mixture of originals and covers in the Sabbath, Priest, Maiden vein they have been going from strength to bludgeoning strength and seem destined for bigger things."

Also from Australia, some bands that Steve Shotton ( https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/ ... ton/248167 ) was in during the first half of the '80s, possibly/likely heavy metal:
Needs research. - Archangel
Needs research. - Valhalla (in 1985 an EP was being recorded. Valhalla featured at least two members of Archangel in addition to himself.)
- note: the band Assasin that he was in also during this time are said to be hard rock with metal leanings (despite the name), so I didn't include them here.

There are a few bands recently added to the list that the VR can be marked green for. It's just the music that we're looking for at this point -

One release for each of these bands, documented in 'Headbangers' encyclopedia (can provide a photo of the paragraph for any of these bands, if requested, but all useful info is in the original post within this thread):
- Angels of Mercy (11860)
- April Fools (11861)
- Audion (11865)
- Brainstorm (UK) (11871)
- Fatal Attraction (11890)
- Final Solution (11891)
- Five Go Moshing (11892)
- FKM (11893)

"Trampled Down Under" #4 'zine printed that in 1985 these Australian bands had recently released a demo ( https://imgur.com/a/VeoqaYQ - full 'zine/page where that piece was pulled from available here - https://heavymetalrarities.com/forum/vi ... #gsc.tab=0 ):
- Destiny (11885)
- Knight (11886)
- Revenge (from the description of the music given, maybe enough to submit) (11887)

3 releases described in ReverbNation bio:
- Ezekial (11883)

Thanks.

Samples needed.

Hell, I had the tape a few years ago and I sold it (maybe to the guy of Metal Warning Records in Finland as at that time I was used to sell him a lot of south-eastern asian cassettes to him).
Honestly I never listened to that tape... I just trusted the artwork and the titles

Al Pasquali - Drums

'Zine article with logo and photo of a couple of the members: https://heavymetalrarities.com/forum/vi ... iew=unread
Article is in Italian. Here is the translation to English:
Spoiler: show
Once again the sound of a heavy metal band extends from the lower Isarco Valley and reaches us. And yes, gentlemen, Bozen itself gave birth to a young group whose name, BRAINSTORM or "brain disorders", is a whole program. But don't worry anyway, your gray matter will certainly not be disturbed by this sound material at most
a will remain indifferent.
The group, for the record, was formed in November '86 with Pietro Tomazzoni on vocals, Marco Facchin on bass, Stefano Zambon on guitar and Al Pasquali, drummer, who as well as being the last to arrive was also the first to leave. In fact, after the recording of this first demo, "Brainstorm", he had to leave the drumsticks to "Pif" Basile, who was more technically gifted and more involved in the group spirit. It should be noted that Pif includes musical experiences in the USA, experiences that should be a guarantee for the next demo which, once the problem of a second guitarist has been resolved, should be released, according to forecasts, in July '88.
In the meantime, let's be satisfied with this tape which, in truth, tells us little about the abilities and possibilities of these four South Tyrolean boys. If it is true that the demo contains only four pieces, of which the first is nothing more than an intro, if it is true that the singing must be considered only as a rehearsal, and if we also take into account that the musicians are still young and inexperienced ; then you will agree with me that giving a serious and objective opinion is not an easy task. However, noting that the cassette recorded in a short time is not that great in terms of recording quality, let's move on to a quick look at the songs: After the short initial intro à la Dario Argento, which was also appreciated by yours truly, here are the dark and distorted sounds of "Crazy Life" a song that highlights a good guitar accompanied however by too much drums and an undoubtedly forced voice. After which we move on to "Heaven's Fighter" incredibly similar, in the initial part, to the first notes of the unforgettable "Scorpion Rider" by fellow citizens Skanners. Then until the end of the song nothing more to report, except some good guitar playing by Stefano. The hostilities end with "Live again", a rhythmically valid piece ruined by the usual voice which in my opinion is too hoarse and unsuitable for this type of all in all classic heavy which however does not disdain certain longing atmospheres. The ideas undoubtedly exist, but despite this I believe that it is too early for any type of criticism and judgment which would risk being completely unfounded. Therefore, to verify whether this brain disorder exists, and whether it has the possibility of expanding, I would postpone the discussion until this summer, hoping that, in the meantime, spring will make something good sprout.

It can also be noted that Bruno Kraler (also of Nightpride) played in this band, but denies it nowadays - so he won't be a good person to ask about the release.

Exactly.... I got in touch with Bruno Kraler last summer (more or less) and he denies every kind of involvement in the band... I had the screenshot of the conversation which I posted on HMR

Digitally released but - as many other bands from Nepal (see also Atomic Bush) did (and still do), they could burn their stuff on CD-R upon request for those who can afford the cost of 1 US$ to buy it or - like my friends did and when I worked for a while with them back in 2010 - it was common practice to burn on CDr and sell on street stalls even without band's consent. When I worked with one of this street stalls we were used to download and burn everything, from local bands to international bands but, if I remember well, nobody ever bought some self-made CDr of nepalese bands: the cost, 1 US$, was too high so that's why most of the bands at that time (and still now) just spread their recordings online and through easily accessible Iphone apps

I knew a few people working on that UnderCulture site you mentioned, but basically they have no knowledge at all about "old" releases and bands. For them 2010 is prehistoric era and they have no idea at all whether there was a metal scene back in the 90's or early 2000's in Nepal.

as for the ukrainan band "Hard Life"

https://mastersland.org/index.php?relea ... #gsc.tab=0

I found this biography on VKontakte, I guess it was written by a band member:

https://vk.com/topic-4806481_14729471

At the 2004 part of the biography it is said that the first album was released in some format (CDR?) as it was sold:

А главным событием был выход в свет первого альбома Hard Life, и назывался он «Крик безнадежности». Он вобрал в себя 11 песен, плюс кавер-версия песни неизвестного автора «Девушка моя».
Наконец-то люди стали знакомиться с накапливаемым материалом. Альбом стал потихоньку расходиться по области, несколько дисков было продано в Кривом Роге.

Need to check but I have no time, thanx to this job. Anyway before the first album there is a chaotic history of demo recordings, lost demos, lost tapes, unreleased demo sessions in a typical russian/ukrainan way....

Also other albums were released such as the live concert "Пятница 13" (also in 2004) which is said it has been released on CD(R?):

Слава тем силам, которые уберегли группу в тот день – ничего не сгорело и не поломалось. Хотя без прикола не обошлось – после концерта барабанщик катался на байке и упал. Счесал себе пол-лица и руки. А самым клевым было то, что этот сэйшн был записан на кассету, а после согнан на CD. В итоге появился на свет концертник Hard Life&МанифестЪ «Пятница 13-е. Погром в Вольногорске»

Their 3rd album "С надеждой в душе" - if we count the live recording as the second album - is described as their "best selling" , so in a way or an other, they managed to distribute them in a physical form:

Параллельно с этими событиями был выпущен в свет 3-й альбом «С надеждой в душе». Запись получилась лирической, в связи с аналогичными событиями, происходившими в жизни Пила – главного автора музыки и всех текстов. Альбом стал самым продаваемым. Старые фаны немного побурчали, что песни стали менее злыми и спокойными, но все же альбом расходился по рукам.

Also the 5th album "Крайности и последствия" was released (on CDR?):

At this point - I have no time to check the whole biography - I guess most of the albums have been released on self made CD and spreaded throughout the region or on a local base:
