** Burzum "Ragnarok (A new Beginning)" (2001) CD

Varg himself considers this to be official. It's on Burzum.org

** Emperor "Witches Sabbath" 7"EP

It's listed on Emperor's website under official releases.

EDIT: The Emperor release is indeed a bootleg.

The "True Kings Of Norway" split
http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=111143
is also a bootleg, as we can read in this interview with Abbath: http://www.lordsofmetal.nl/showinterview.php?id=401

I reported this one, and I thought it was removed but somehow it's back again...

Immortal may not have agreed for that cd to be released, but at least Arcturus and Immortal did, as they specifically remastered their stuff for that comp/split. It also appears that Abbath is talking about a different bootleg/confusing it with another record, as he mentions Bathory who are not even on that record.

Also, Dimmu Borgir and Ancient mentions that split in their site. Btw, that interview was done with Iscariah, not Abbath.

I am wondering if the Morbid - Deathexecution LP whcih was released by Holycaust Records in a edition of 100 copies (the one with the golden logo) is a bootleg or not. Acc. insert of the LP, it was even planned to have photos, all lyrics "and stuff" (whatever "stuff" means here). My question: Is this releasew considered a bootleg or not ? I never read a Morbid interview (post-Morbid interviews, liek the one in Slayer #17 or so) asking about that LP.

That one also made me think... but I thought I'd just report it, just in case.

Hi,
sorry maybe you have already discussed about that, but i think that Burzum's album Draugen - Rarities could be considered as an official release. On Audioglobe site this album is described in this way:

...Questo “Draugen – Rarities” è una raccolta di materiale raro, già pubblicato su un cd bootleg non autorizzato dalla band, ed è adesso reso ufficialmente disponibile, dopo essere stato rimasterizzato e con veste grafica approvata dall’ artista...

There is written that Draugen - Rarities is a collection of rare songs previously released as bootleg, but NOW released OFFICIALLY, after being remastered with A NEW GRAPHICAL PACKAGE APPROVED BY BURZUM.

What do you think about that?

Bye :)

Well it doesen't matter what they say, as long as it contains two fake songs - one of them not even by Burzum at all.

If it's not on Burzum's official site, it's considered a bootleg. That album isn't.

Yes...but it don't understand, why Seven Harmonies appears as a Burzum song...excuse me my ignorance, but i really don't understand!!! And it's strange because this album does not look like a bootleg...

Well, Holycaust is usually a legitimate label... but then again, sometimes even legitimate labels release bootlegs (as in the case of Burzum above, or just about any Karmageddon release, haha!). But yes, I have always wondered about that Morbid Lp too.

BoB probably didn't bother to check it out I guess... A very unserious label.

Be aware of any Metallica releases from Vertigo. I found a couple bullshit compilations in their discography recently, named 'Saint And Anger' and 'Metallica'.

hmmm, two Razor LPs were released lately, but I guess both are bootlegs by one and the same person behind.

Razor - Live From The City Of Damnation LP
Razor - Escape The Fire LP

The Desultory demo compilation has no liner notes, no barcode, no booklet. Therefore I suggest it is a bootleg.

Desultory - Demo compilation CD

We originally got a report for it from a reliable contributor to the site. Here was his reply to an email I sent him:

"Please don't ban him. Its not his fault that bootlegging labels easily fool people by advertising their releases as legitimate. Please just make sure it 'the release' doesn't get back on the site. The HRR bootleg is sourced from a dubbed dusty old tape purchased from an American bootlegger years ago who claimed he had the rights. Paul Pelliter the old band manager and true rightful owner of Demon Pact's recordings has not authorised this release. High Roller Records is a known bootlegging label, also recently responsible for the Hell and Marquis De Sade bootlegs. Though HRR get fooled too, it doesn't make these releases ok.

There are plans for a legitimate releases of Demon Pact in the future I hear."

I am not familiar with their material much, but according to the Black Metal List "Bloodlust and Perversion" was released by Avantgarde Records (e.g. unlikely that it was unofficial):

Carpathian Forest: Norway 1991-
# Primitive raw Black Metal with a bit of a Hellhammer feel and sometimes
# a "winter storm" feel
Bloodlust and Perversion/demo/1992
Promo 93/demo/1993
In These Trees Are My Gallows/demo/7"/1993 []
Through Chasms, Caves And Titan Woods/MCD/1995 [AG]
# Catchy "rock'n'roll" Black Metal
Bloodlust And Perversion/1997 [AG]
# The demo + more old material on CD
Black Shining Leather/1998 [AG]
Carpathian Forest/7"/1999 [AG]
# Picture disc even
Strange Old Brew/2000 [AG]
Under the Black Sun ‘99/MC/2000
# Live bootleg

I have an old Carpathian Forest interview in which they tell the reader not to buy that damned bootleg (in a less polite manner).

As far as I remember, this CD has been made by Last Epitaph/Last Episode (not mentioning their name on the CD of course), most probably without acceptance of the band. I may check this, if I find that fast in the heaps of zines I have at home.

But this is one of the borderline things which I do like to be included in the archives... you can also say that all the Warmaster Record stuff (e.g. Pagan Rites CD) is also a bootleg. In an old inti with Devil Lee Roth I read that he hates this bootleg, but admits that it has the best sound of all Pagan Rites releases...

Darkthrone - Baptized In Blood CD

though one of the better bootlegs. The Rehearsal tracks from "A Blaze In The Northern Sky" were recorded under their Death Metal influence from 1991 with a great bass and guitarsound. Wow, even better then on "A Blaze...". But Bootleg is bootleg.
