Allrighty, I just rewrote my Fates Warning reviews. They're not literary masterpieces, but they're short and to the point, so I guess that works.

I found this review for Freedom Call - Eternity, which doesn't say much at all:

Possibly the best power metal of 2002 - 96%
Written by Metal_God on April 9th, 2003

Freedom Call is now one of the biggest power metal bands. This record makes them equal to Stratovarius and Rhapsody, at least for me.

Eternity is completely full of great tracks and it will never let you down. The lyrics are a bit silly of course, but that doesn´t bather me at all. I want to listen to the music, I´m not interested in what they´re singing about.
Dan Zimmerman handles the drums perfectly.

If you adore bands like Avantasia, Rhapsody or Stratovarius, this is definately something for you

All I get out of this is that its like Rhapsody and Stratovarius (which I don't recall hearing from Freedom Call, but maybe this release is different), and that Dan Zimmerman is a good drummer.

Overrated? No way in hell! - 100%

"Walk" - man the groove in this! This is better than anything Overkill has done, even on their Killbox 13 masterpiece. Once again, the vocals are in that shouty vein Phil Anselmo, and there are a couple of nice bass runs from Rex Brown here as well.

Dude, you can't nuke it just cause he thinks "Walk" has good groove. I mean, the In Flames thing, sure, that was fucking retarded. But that's just a difference of opinion.

No, I nuked it because it was a below-average song-by-song-with-two-sentences-each thing, and it gave a 100% rating. If you're going to give a 100, then you'd damn better scientifically analyse every orgasm it gave you on an individual basis, giving nicknames to each!!!

Greatest album ever - 100%
Written by Brian on December 26th, 2002

I originally wrote a long song-by-song review of this album, but I've decided it didn't give justice to this great release. Operation: Mindcrime takes a massive shit on virtually any other metal album ever made. When I first got this I wasn't very impressed on the first spin, but by the second listen it hit me like a ton of bricks - WOW! This is 70 minutes of knockout songs!!!

Highlights include: The Mission, Suite Sister Mary, Breaking the Silence, I Don't Believe in Love, and Eyes of a Stranger.

Do yourself a favor and read through the lyrics the first time you listen to this CD. Contrary to what others have said, all of these songs can stand on their own outside of the main story line. A masterpiece that beats anything since 1988...

Not one word about the music.

Brian's a retard and needs to have more objects placed into his cunt. When I'm not blitzing his reviews, I'm using them as specific examples of Worst Review Ever.

Mindblowing metal - 100%
Written by Brian on January 30th, 2003

Along with Point of Entry, Sin After Sin is the most overlooked Priest album. The whole thing rocks from start to finish.

Sinner, Starbreaker, and Dissident Aggressor are straight out rockers. Here Come the Tears and Last Rose of Summer are great ballads. Rob Halford just sings his balls off on this album. The production is a weak point on some of the tracks - the vocals literally sound like they were recorded in a tin can. But overall this is an incredibly inventive rock album with killer guitars, killer screams, and killer drums...

If you haven't picked this one up yet, now is the time to get it. Sony recently re-released it with superior remastered sound and some cool bonus tracks. A must have...

Well... it's classic.

Classic release - 65%
Written by HawkMoon on August 11th, 2002

Third album from one of the most classic metal bands of all time, Judas Priest. Since I think this is the first one they made that is worth having, I dissed the first two. Ok there are a couple of good tracks on those but let's face it.. they aren't very interesting overall.

Anyways, this is melodic, two-lead-guitar heavy metal ala 70's, a hint of what's to come the following years. This album and those who followed were a small breakthrough for this kind of metal. Rob Halford, for those who don't know, is perhaps one of the world's greatest vocalists (in my opinion he is), that highpitched screaming is tough to beat. Glenn Tipton and KK Downing are two excellent guitarists, who split the lead work between them perfectly and perform some great solos.

Although this album is far from Priest's best work, it features some neat tracks such as the epic "Sinner", the Joan Baez-cover "Diamonds and rust" and "Starbreaker". Also "Let us prey"´which is perhaps one of the most underrated and forgotten Priest songs.

The most underrated Record! - 87%
Written by David on August 19th, 2002

This is the most underrated record.
Not all songs are so well like on the follow-ups, but i like this album much more than the Stained Class album. O.K.Exciter is unbeaten and Beyond the
realms of death is the all-time classic, but Sin after Sin is so much better than the rest of stained class.
Sinner / Diamonds and rust turned to classics, Starbreaker was also played live, but what is with the rest?
Last Rose of the summer is a nice ballad, which is very rare by Judas Priest.
And let us prey is the most underrated song ever! It's their fastest song before
Exciter was released and a forerunner of this. Speed Metal, before this was invented!
Raw deal and here comes the tears aren't really highlights, but with dissident agressor you have another forgotten classic. Trash Metal before this was invented!
The bonus track race with the devil is also one of their best unreleased songs.
I don't understand why these tracks are overlooked and the album so underrated. It is also much heavier than Sad wings of destiny and i thing in
1977 there was nothing heavier than Sinner , let us prey and dissdident agressor.
What i also hear are some influences from early Scorpions. Compare Dark Lady with Sinner (which begins similar!) or the song Catch your train.
(Unbelivable that Scorpions were one of the heaviest Bands at this time!)

Someone call the ear specialist!! - 99%
Written by Metalli_Priest on October 1st, 2003

I would have given this 100%, but I have yet to hear a lot of classic metal albums. Damn, I haven’t even heard Priest in the East (yes I know, kill me now!!!) Anyhow…

This is the finest album ever written. For me, it is Painkiller that defines ‘Heavy Metal.’

It is mainly speed metal, with some power and thrash moments, while, ofcourse, retaining that trademark Judas-Priest sound. I don’t know what else you could want in a metal album! Seriously, there is no filler or bad songs on here, like with past efforts, it is all 100% top quality.

I wont go into all the song run downs, because seriously, I don’t need to! There are 18 reviews below mine that cover them adequately. However, I will say all these songs fucking rock! EVERY SINGLE ONE!

I don’t even know if you can pick favorites. You go ‘Painkiller’ and then, ‘no Night Crawler….No, One shot at Glory. No, ….’

Damn, seriously, you need to pick this one up and make up your own opinion.

Thith review ith thuper fabulouth!

Their overlooked best album! - 100%
Written by David on August 19th, 2002

This is their most overlooked album by the band themself. Was it forgotten in time?!?
Heaven can wait is a must to be played live, while Wasted Years is played rarely; the rest was never played live again after this tour.
O.K. on this albums there aren't songs who turned to classics like
Number of the beast, run to the hills, the trooper...
And some songs are not so heavy like usual and don't have all typical Iron Maiden-elements
But a fact is, that there is no weak song on this album. And on most other albums there are one or two fillers. Also the single b-sides are fine and more than average - maybe their best titles who went on b-sides.
(the other are from x-factor session, where the b-sides are better than the album!)
On 3 songs Adrian showes his talent as a songwriter ( the songs are more melodic than ever before) and a guitar-player. I think that he also has big influences on the other songs. While Powerslave is more riff-oriented, here the solos are played superb! That's what i love on this album.
Also the lyrics and the cover are very fine.
Strange is that there appear no songs which were written by Bruce Dickinson.
So I'd like to know if there are some leftovers from this album and how they sound.

Maiden's best and also their least understood - 100%
Written by PumpkinFlyFree on August 11th, 2002

While some prefer Maiden's more simplistic earlier recordings, namely the first two releases, and still others enjoy the more complex efforts prior to this release, this is where Maiden's songwriting is really top notch.
Somewhere In Time is not a concept album, but the songs do have a general theme of the unknown, of space, and of time. You dont have to read the lyrics to figure this out though. This is the band's first and most dramatic display of synth-based guitar, and it really speaks on it's own. The songs seem to be have more endurance to them after repeated listens. The guitar solos really contribute this I feel. Much longer than on any other Iron Maiden album, and they really give a versatility to tracks like Alexander The Great and the title track.
Probably the band's least accessable album, but for those pay close attention, they will will be rocking to this long after "The Trooper" and "2 Minutes To Midnight" have gotten stale.

One would think it's Somewhere In Time, but then he starts talking about B-sides and the X-Factor and all this other weird shit. So I'm going to assume it's a mythical Maiden album which only exists in Dipshit Faggymagic Universe, where David spends his time.

He mentions the b-sides, which would have been recorded at the same time as the album, to further prove how good the album is. The only other b-sides as good as these are from the X-Factor sessions. He's probably a foreigner....

Its not hard to understand, this album musically was a goldmine, not as good as None So Vile or Blasphemy Made Flesh, but the music was indeed great. Langlois and Levasseur definetely sound great in the album, and as usual Flo just murders the drumset.

Enter Disalvo...Enter shit. The lyrics of the album just got worse from Whisper Supremacy. Stupid tracks like "My Prodigal Sun" just ruin the once godly Cryptopsy. Screams Go Unheard is probably my favorite song, but still it is hard not to turn off when Disalvo begins to use his voicebox.

There's no need to be a fan of Cryptopsy to see the overall unusefulness of this review...:nono:

crock of shit - 0%
Written by Slayer_7 on March 21st, 2004
first this is one of the worst metal albums that you can get also this is worst metallica release.. and some people say this album is great so I may be nut or you are......

so you can try hardly to like one of the songs here but finally you can only kill your self .... Load and Reload were country music but well done in that world also St.anger was nu-metal album but it's maybe acceptable in that world but here there's only shit.

CD1 contains covers for bands so I thought it gonna be for some overkill or anthrax and If they wanna go hard (and they can't) so let them pick some thing for slayer or kreator but guess who.. Black sabbath - mecryful fate and some other unknown classic heavy metal bands or fucking punk bands.. so of course metallica can't make classic stuff because Hetfield is so far away from Ozzy or King Diamond and every one live in a different world.. that's suck and to believe just listen to "it's electric" or "mercyful fate" and see how noisy is Hetfield and I don't need to stick about punk stuff like "sabbra cadabra" because you already know how they suck ....
other songs like "astronomy" so it's very weak melodic song and guess what is the chorus (hey hey hey hey hey) so you judge.
"tuesday is gone" is almost Led Zeppelin song and I don't know what to do with Metal

so in the whole CD1 only you can listen to "More I see" and it's almost instrumental song but at least you can listen....

about CD2 some one said this is killer thrash... I told I am nut or you are...
most of the songs recorded when Hetfield was 2 years old and production is the worst ever..and no good riff or solo or SPEED.. and last four songs are live recorded so vocalist is good but they play them is the same speed level and no real speed or thrash..

so finally just avoid this like plague or you may kill your self... I just warned you......

For Metallica's Garage Inc.

I nominate that this review be bitchslapped into oblivion. It's not the worst review I've ever read, but it's pretty bad. He calls "Sabbra Cadabra" punk, and insults Led Zeppelin by comparing them to Skynyrd and "Tuesday's Gone". Also, his in-depth review of the 2nd CD is laughable. Not to mention that the grammar is absolute feces.

Agree/Disagree?

This is by far the funniest review I have ever seen on this site. I'm not sure if it's really worthy of being blitzed as it does kind of try to describe the music, but honestly I think this guy is really stinking up the archives.

"Infernum: Father Of Graveland - 100%

Written by
Samana88
on March 31st, 2004

This album is indeed difficult to get your hands on. It is the NSBM relic in my eyes. Attaining this is like attaining the armour of Athene. I sometimes
feel as if i am the only one who has this album of such rareness, impossible! Others have it but do not wish to review it, i shall take the step forward
and write the review for the relic like album that is... TAUR NU FUIN!

1. Intro: Sounds found from the most oddest of places. Reminding the listener of advanced technology, things only owned by the wisest, the ones who are
able to understand its mysteries. This intro does not last long and it definitely frightens the listener by its great amounts of oddness. Reminds me, Samana88
of a space like adventure. Very different this intro is, so different it does not match any other track on this Infernum full length album that is... TAUR
NU FUIN!

2. In The Black Clouds Of War: Bursting in like an unseen war, this is Infernum. Keyboards play a haunting piece of art, when i first heard it, i was instantly
in rememberance of age old horror films where the only sound is the suffering cries and the eerie keyboard. Darken indeed has great, vast, monumental talent
inside. Guitars are in a low volume but shred unbelievably, the guitar riffs shift from a cemetary type sound to a gathering of forces type sound. This
is a good song and really is possibly one of the best on the album that is... TAUR NU FUIN!

3. The Ancient Order: Coming forth with a playing style that closely identifies itself to early Graveland style of music. You have got to love the drumming
on this track, tons of high hats, some good beats on the toms, we thank you with all our hearts Capricornus! So far i have not mentioned the vocals done
by Karcharoth, they do not lack in quality, but when you think of the man doing it. The man that tried to demolish Graveland, you yourself want to take
justice into your hands and stab Karcharoth the traitor! Good though regardless of who it is, i still believe Darken would do a better job of it, his talents
are directed somewhere else though on The Ancient Order, keyboarding! Guitars are still very difficult to listen to but they can be heard, somehow though
it doesnt ruin it, it actually adds to that ancient feeling both Infernum and Graveland put into their music each and every time, and especially in the
album that is... TAUR NU FUIN!

4. Gammadion: Entering with a nice little guitar effect (sounds very close to a zipper being pulled). Very slow start, all instruments including vocals
are done quite well and when all combined produce a nice gloomy day type of emotion or setting, either one, much emotion and also setting are put into
all of these songs. At 1:50 there is a clean type of whisper, a guitar sound playing a sad tune, and the sound of ravens or perhaps crows cawing in the
background. The keyboards change very rarely in this track, mostly revolving around a quasi temple type pattern of keyboarding sadness! Also notice how
long this track is, not at all short, this long length allows for much different changes in the song Gammadion, youre not getting a repeating sound over
and over that is for sure! 5:12 comes and you are welcomed to a nice guitar sound which then makes the transfermation to the sad sounding guitar and crows/ravens
cawing, this time vocals are Karcharoths black metal vocals, things quickly resume the hateful nature of this 4th track on the album that is... TAUR NU
FUIN!

5. Weltmacht Oder Nidergang: This song is played in a more melodic way, its not just noise, there are actual great amounts of gentle riffs being played,
keyboarding done in beauty (isnt it all?), and drumming that plays a simple beat yet captures the mind. That is what this song does! It captures your attention
by using warlike influences, the power of the music reduces at times to a temple feeling then charges into a full on attack. On who? The non Pagan religions,
the inferior bloods, those who stand against us! Become amazed, enjoy Weltmacht Oder Nidergang for its qualities! Qualities only found on the album that
is... TAUR NU FUIN!

6. Meine Ehre Heisst Treue: No vocals are on this track. Only a guitar solo that explodes with talent. It is amazing what this band was doing in such early
days of their exsistance. This is something of true greatness, deserving the title Meine Ehre Heisst Treue. If you listen even closer you will notice that
there is not just a guitar solo but also slight keyboarding provided by Darken. A very impressive riff that calls out to you: Learn me on your guitar!
We could all learn a thing or two from the album that is... TAUR NU FUIN!

7. Cathari Sects: Beginning with a slow plodding beat. Sounding as if they warm up, but they are not. Things change with speed. Cathari Sects brings us
one beautiful and also impressive seventh track. A fast paced song that still flows with beauty that is found in all instruments being used. Drums, guitars,
keyboards, this song, Cathari Sects, it has it all. Coming later in this song are the sounds of a bell ringing, rings that are large and proclaiming of
the soon to be devastation of Judeo-Christian life! The slow moments, the violent war inspired moments, all enjoyable, all worth it when you spend your
time or money on the album that is... TAUR NU FUIN!

8. Outro: I had made the guess that this track will be in the same style as the first, containing abnormal and also inunderstandable sounds. But 4 minutes
of it? I dont believe it is possible. Slowly this song begins, sounds of wind are being played. A slow marching sound, not fast like footsteps, but having
the sound of boots hitting pavement, boots belonging to men with a large step. Synth then enters, a sorrowfull tune, but not very changing or vibrant,
just sad, gloomy, keyboarding that can only be heard in a foggish journey thru a place of mystery. Suddenly sounds of cannon fire are played, but then
stops, but then starts again, maybe gun fire, or possibly cannon fire, very hard to say. Slowly it fades away, a good end to a most amazing album that
is... TAUR NU FUIN!

Its a sad thing that Infernum has been discontinued. The melodies were most enjoyable, reminding me greatly of early Graveland playing style. I wonder though,
if Infernum was continued, would it take on the sound of Lord Wind and albums like Memory & Destiny and The Fire Of Awakening? We will never know, all
remains a mystery when dealing with the band that is... INFERNUM!"

ahahahaha...well, at least he's passionate about the music. Or should I say..about the album that is...TAUR NU FUIN!

Here's another real stinker.

Now what we have here is some White Pride thrash with many noticable influences from Metal. Bound For Glory has always been one of the best WP bands out
there, good lyrics, an awesome drummer, and some very catchy guitar riffs, all this combined you have Bound For Glory!

Since Bound For Glory has always been an awesome band we must also assume that Behold The Iron Cross will be their highlight, is it...?

Yes! Every song on here just gets better and better, it feels like you are preparing yourself for the thing you must desire, the Iron Cross, thats how this
album is, every song gets better and better, building upto the last track, track 9, Prelude To Stalingrad/ Behold The Iron Cross, the BEST track on the
entire album!

Its suprising to find out that GRAVELAND gives thanks to Bound For Glory on some of its albums (memory and destiny). Bound For Glory isnt black metal, it
has some influences like i mentioned from the start, but that would be just guitar, and drumming (lots of blast beats), Vocally this is Thrash! No grunts,
just a grumbled fast paced shout. Now what is he singing about? Lyrically this album deals with Glory, Race, and of course, Pride. Not one time do i hear
the mention of, "Kill The Nigger!!!" Its just not that type of WP music.

-Very catchy
-Very technical
-Not a dull moment
-Vocals take time to get used to
-9th track is a good reason to get this album
-Come on! Its Bound For Glory, best WP band out there"

So, he's basically implying that thrash isn't metal.

His review for Absurd's "Totenleider" is also fucking attrocious and doens't describe the music in the slightest.

His constant and overzealous fellating of Graveland is totally ridiculous, to the point where he gives Infernum's "The Dawn wil Never Come"" a 99% even though he spends half the review griping about the shitty production.

Fuck, just kill them all and get someone with real talent to review some of those damn good albums. The fact that Samana's Bound for Glory review is above Chaosphere's thorough and excellent analysis on the page is bloody insulting.

I'd think that first one was a pisstake if I didn't know better. :nono:
Samana is one of those polack caracitures that sided with Sabbath, isn't he?

Anyway, here's a pretty questionable one:

I have a soft spot for Catamenia, and can say that that Immortal comparison is ludicrous. Some of his other reviews are sort of iffy, too...several more 100%s.

I gotta say that when i heard that Satyricon had signed onto an major label my first thoughts were something like "oh great, another band that will start to abuse keyboards" but i was so wrong! "Volcano" is grim as few black metal albums today. Songs like "Fuel For Hatred" and the amazing "Black Lava" are proof to two things:
1. Frost and Satyr know how to write grim black metal..
2. Just because you´re on a major label you don´t have to soften your sound

Nemesis Divina was my favourite Satyricon-album.......until Volcano was released"

"Meh" is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this album. There are some parts that are interesting here and there, but for the majority, I think this album isn't very good. This isn't doom metal at all; I don't know why this site says it is. To me, this album sounds slightly like St. Anger, except without the annoying drums, and the same vocals style. However, I'd still take St. Anger over this.

The guitar riffs are recycled, repetitive, and the guitar tone just irks me. It sounds too distorted and blurry. Occasionally, Grohl will incorporate some harmony or a solo into his songs, but it doesn't make up for what he's shown you by the time you get to those parts. This is proof that rhythm guitar does play a big role in music (to those who say that it isn't as essential as lead guitar). The bass and drumming are nothing cool; they sound more fit for a rock band than a metal band.

The vocals are pretty annoying and don't add to the music too much. Grohl's vocals sound like a combination of Warrel Dane and St. Anger era James Hetfield. This album desperately wants to be something that it's not, and it puts me off greatly. I wouldn't say there are any "good" songs, much rather there are some good parts in some of the songs. If you're not a fan of wannabe-mallcore music, then don't buy this album.

--------------------

o_O Come on man, how could you mistake legendary metal vocalists for Grohl? I don't even think Grohl actual sings on this at all.

This album was a complete piece of shit, so I'll make this review short.

What we have here is nothing but brutally unbearable music. Barnes’ screams are complete trash from all of the weed he’s done over the years. His high pitched screams are just as bad (ex. the part in "Sick In The Head" where he screams "Oh my fucking God!"), not to mention his monotonous nature and stupid lyrics. Boring and repetitive guitar riffs. There are a few (but very brief) cool and fast guitar parts (My Hatred has one or two cool parts), other than the few seconds of coolness the rest is shit.

The bass doesn't stand out at all. Terry Butler was good when he was in Death, but either bad creativity or the fact that he is just not trying is restricting him. The drumming is average, so nothing really stands out about it. The best part of this listening experience was the guitar, and even that sucked. For the love of everything in existence, don't feed this band any money by purchasing this album.

How could a former death metal god like Barnes fall so damn low?
