So I know not everyone on this board is from the United States but for those of us who are who's heading out to this awesome fest? Anybody have any awesome stories from last years MDF. Who are you excited too see?!

I must go! The first four lines are absolutely godly and there are a number of other bands sprinkled throughout that poster that are well-worth seeing. Epic win!

I'm probably going. I was planning on a Kreator/Exodus show instead, but fuck, this looks like one wicked line-up. Having Mayhem, Bolt Thrower, Marduk, Enslaved, Misery Index and Keep of Kalessin all in one venue might cause an explosion of pure KICKASS.

Well, pending parental permission, I might go. I doubt they'll let me go to the US on my own with no supervision, and no place to stay.

Anybody going to this check out Man Must Die. Brilliant death/grind band from right here in Scotland Damn i would love to go to this festival. Lucky bastards. Although I can't comlplain much seeing as we get all the major summer festivals over here.

How could a "Death Fest" be perverted with so many Black Metal and core-esque bands?

Maryland Deathfest has a reputation of crust punk/hardcore/grindcore bands playing along aside death metal bands.

this thing is only a few days before my birthday, and would be a great present.
I'd say the drive from GA to MD is like, 5 hours maybe?

If you're doing 150 the whole way, maybe. 10-11 hours is more accurate.

Actually, I'd think a death fest would fit black metal better than death metal, seeing as how most so called death metal bands sing about things unrelated to death.

Mayhem's playing? Hmmm, I'll most likely be attending. Anyone know who is filling in for Blasphemer? It's been a while since an update on Mayhem's situation has been addressed.

Seriously though, this would kick ass.. there are a few bands on there I haven't seen before and would LOVE to see again. And of course seeing the several that I've never seen before... Atheist/Pestilence/Bolt Thrower on one bill

Man, such a great line up... Pestilence, Bolt Thrower, Asphyx(!), Mayhem, Napalm Death, Marduk, Atheist, Enslaved, Absu(!), Immolation, General Surgery, Swallow the Sun, Keep of Kalessin, Pig Destroyer, Pretty Little Flower, and Weekend Nachos all at once! Now; if only I could save up enough money for airplane tickets to the show.

Morfeus from Limbonic Art is doing the South American shows so it will most likely be him as well for this appearance.

Also, to those complaining about black metal at this fest, there's five fucking bands out of all those scheduled to appear. Mayhem, Marduk and Keep of Kalessin are the only ones who are pure black metal, so really only three. Absu is black thrash and Enslaved is not pure BM anymore.

I am seriously about to cry, cause I can't go, I wanna see Mayhem!!!

I stopped reading about 3/4 through the lineup, I got so pissed off because there's no way i'll be able go.

within 20 / 30 minutes is cool with me.

Damn, that lineup is incredible. The first three rows (plus Immolation) are worth it alone. Not to mention Hail of Bullets, Keep of Kalessin, Misery Index, Pig Destroyer, Lair of the Minotaur... damn.

Bolt Thrower that's pretty much it for me. Could end up being the most expensive show ever just to see one band, considering plane+hotel+car.

Well because of a few factors I dont get a chance to see things like this. I refuse to miss this, Im only a few hours away.

This is something i have wanted to goto for years, that lineup is incredible.

Would be interested to know of any experiences from Aussies who have made the trip over to see such fest. How much it cost, how it was to organise everything, any useful info to add about their experience.
